What's the IP address of the server you guys are? I'd like to traceroute it. Is it 31.186.229.135? (Internap out of London?)
If so, the latency from Texas is only 132ms but there is some client to server performance going on, so much so that it is really hurting the playability of the game making it feel like 3000ms and packet loss hell tbh. That's a strong host, maybe your emulator is over worked?
Playing a USA melee class means you can never hit players who are moving on the EU side due to failed range check
Playing a USA ranged class means all the EU melee classes are not showing up in the correct positions, thus they are on top of you hitting you, but you can never move out of range.
Spells for USA clients interrupt themselves often since the GCD is lagged.
I'm a veteran WH player and an industry game developer, so it feels like something served side is going on (especially in ORvR but I've seen it in SCs as well with small pops of 20.) WHO feels un client side prediction friendly, so this utterly kills playability.
I think what you're doing with your server emulator is wonderful, but something is killing client positioning checks.
Playing from USA = Frustrating packet loss 25+ hops perhaps

Sorry to hear you're having issues with latency. Unfortunately it's just something you have to deal with.

I feel sorry for the Aussies. For them it's probably worse, even worse than west coast USA. My suggestion would be to play around it. The only classes that may not be an option though are WE/WH since they don't have AoEs to soften the issue. You can always play a tank.

I would think that as soon as the netcode gets better we would get better position checks. I feel it a lot when playing my tank and toss people away. There is probably something different with the positions checks from the orgiginal game, 132 MS should be fine I have played with worse, but if it is packet loss then ofc i can feel the frustation.TexasBigBlock wrote:something is killing client positioning checks.
If the IP of the server is 31.186.229.135 then i have 41ms roughly.
On a sidenote, I thought we had more USA players that did not face this kind of issue ?

I get 150-220 ping from mid south america. My advice to anyone w/ over 150 ping is just play a ranged class. You will actually benefit from high ping since it will make melee harder to hit you.Marley wrote:I would think that as soon as the netcode gets better we would get better position checks. The other problem is lack of CC in T2, I think once T3 get implemented melee will have a much better time esp those w/ high ping thanks to better snares and hard cc.

Re: Playing from USA = Frustrating packet loss 25+ hops per
mine is 165ms, it still bad for me since my ability sometime cancelled because the ping is too high. But again, I know the game is still in alpha.
Re: Playing from USA = Frustrating packet loss 25+ hops per
For me the route goes from germany over france (paris) to UK (london) as it seems.
My ping is normally not higher than 52 ms.
I guess later the server will get ability queues, this will help to compensate the different ping times somewhat.

I wonder using VPN will reduce the hops?
