Better server

Today we've had consecutive extreme server lags lasting from 30-seconds to 1 minute, its extremely difficult to enjoy yourself when the server.exe decides to stop working when 20 or more players decide to fight together. This is why i'm wondering if we can possibly open up a donation system where we donate to fund a better server. Donators would be given special benefits like special forum names, chance to chance your forum nickname once a week or whatever. Stuff like that.

Has been discussed plenty, and not available for legal reasons.

And the server hasn't been lagging like this for a while now, something got borked somewhere and it's choking because of that probably - yesterday we were lagging out every 5 minutes.

As far as I am concerned, donations are legal as long as they are not directly being funded to the development of the game as that would mean the devs are profiting from working on the game. Donating to keep the SERVER running however is legal.

The main reason people are afraid of donating is the fair use law, which if the dev's make profit on someone elses intellectual property then they would lose that right and would be up for lawsuits against them. However if you donate to support the SERVER so that the game can run. Technically nobody is profiting, fair use law stays intact and everyone is happy.

Shiet - meant two days ago we were lagging out - yesterday was actually fine and today the problem is back.

The problem is, there is kind of no right to use this game. And there's no way to actually prove 100% donations go where intended.

In fact I think the server has just crashed, 16:46 GMT+1. Server has been unresponsive for 5 mins.

I know, but many of these posts are donations to the developers. This post is not about that, this post is about donations to purchase a better server. And this will become more and more of a problem the more players that play. There server can barely handle 20 people in the same location casting spells...

The live game took years of development to become as stable as it was. A new server wont do that.
