Unable to choose a race

After login and server selection the race choices appear. When I drill down on either on them nothing happens and I am unable to create a character.

no firewall
ping site successful
all read only removed from file

Is there something I have missed?

My only guess here: when i first unpacked the game my antivir tried to block a couple files from the game, probably due to incompatibility with my OS. To be honest, like it listed them, i didnt try to actually play knowing something was missing, just turned off for the unpack and worked fine.

So when you go, let's say: Elf > Archmage. It doesn't allow you to customise the class, and pick a name for the character?

Try extracting the game again.
