Unable to deselect read only...solutions?

Hi, I'll be brief...
Game was working fine last night, not the case today. Read many places that a solution was to uncheck the read only option under properties for the WAR folder. I attempt the solution, seems to work fine but, still no luck getting the RoR launcher to give the go ahead to connect to the game. I go back and check properties again, sure enough, read only is selected again. Yes, I applied changes and saved them. I also tried making the changes, saving then leaving the window open which displays read only as deselected, no luck. Any thoughts? I can provide more system info if it's needed.
