Problem: Server is down and you're not sure why.
Solution: Add a sub message on the front page, some examples could be:
"Server Offline - maintenance"
"Server Offline - server crashed"
"Server Offline - restarting, please wait"
Optionally, there could be be some sort of pager feature to alert admins. I actually assume there is one of these, but for thoroughness I thought I would include it.
