Re: AH Talisman Price

I have only about 10k split between sides, but even then that is maybe just bit above average having heard some of my guildies having 20-30k etc - it's just about how much crafting you have done over the years or if you choose just to keep consuming crafted products or produce them yourself. (armor potions can be big money shrink, or big money source whether you are producer or consumer - talis even more so).
As others pointed out, with many finishing invader, they want good talis in it - or finishing vanq/opp and wanting good talis, or rr61 sc weapons, or bloodlord pve weapons. Demand increases, supply remains slow or diminished (ppl not bothering with ch22 like they did last year).
Then if you have AH with barely 30-50 purple 24s talis left, and 5-10 people with enough money [5-50k] realize its good opportunity to make extra gold by clearing the AH and reselling at higher prices, good for them, that's a good way to make extra money.

I think in past you could dump your extra officer medals to buy Anni gear, salvage it, and have chance at lvl 200 mats for extra talis - apparently this was nerfed so ppl might as well dump their officer medals down the toilet after first 10k because you probably already loaded with pots. Salvaging invader or vanq is not as easy as the old Anni salvaging - and not sure if conq gear can be turned into lvl 200 purple mats.

As for explaining why purple armor talis are rare, from having run 15-20 BS runs, I have gained ONE lvl 200 purple armor fragment, few 2-4 other frags (no one cares for willpower talis anyway or toughness). Instanced bosses are known for providing lvl 200 green trash mats, with extreme luck you might get a blue lvl 200 fragment. Maybe 1 mob in 100 drops blue fragment, and maybe 1 in 1000 might drop a purple fragment. And then people wonder why no one is producing enough talismans to fill everyone and AFK-alts invader gear with talismans. :)

We are not talking about armor talismans here though.

You are talking about speculators and traders in the Auction House. It would be pretty cool if this is happening. But for this to be true you have to think about the virtual economy in Return of Reckoning.

How can you make money if you buy 30 talismans for 500 gold (15000 gold)? If it is possible to spend considerably more gold than all your characters managed to accumulate through speculative trading in the auction house, the only people that would buy at these prices would be other speculators in the market, and so the talismans would not have any real worth in any game sense (since it would be cheaper in terms of time to make talismans yourself). In other words, you would just have a bunch traders buying and selling talismans to each other at massively inflated prices, while buying everything that anyone else puts on the Auction House, at almost any price.

You can't control the market in the auction house, and if you were going to engage in this practice, you would be better buying loot, which has a much more finite supply. Even if the purple armor loot drop is 1 in 1000, there will be a point (the market price) where it is cheaper to grind for purple fragments than for gold. That market price is considerably lower than 500 gold.

You would only need about 10 ppl each with 10-20k gold (easy if you have crafted for years - numbers like 1-2k from salvaging/culti per month is not even hard) - to clear the AH from purple lvl 28-36 talis.
Just don't see why bother with it, game doesn't have massive money sinks so after you have 1-5k gold you can afford most things easy enough, or maybe you really want those 180 armor talis for your chars.

The "market price" is the price of the last sold talismans, so if people sell them for 500 gold and others buy for 500 gold, then that is the market price. The long term average price might be 200-300 gold, but the market price for now seems to be higher.

Playing the AH game is easy, it's just boring IMO.

The market price is nowhere near 500 gold for a +23 strength talisman, that's why chinesehero made this thread.

I just checked and there is actually no +23 talismans in the order Auction House right now.

Yes, the players claim people are buying all the talismans to try and make money. I am not sure how you can buy a talisman at that price and make money, if I am honest. It cannot be done.

All I know is the price of a 23 stat talisman is roughly 30g each, while a 24 stat talisman is 10 times or more , now for wounds that`s good, because that`s 10 wounds for that 1 point but for actual stats strength, intelligence etc its silly to buy a 24 at 350-400 gold vs a 23 for 30g.

However thanks to whoever bought all my 24 strength, wounds , and intelligence talismans i placed on the AH at 375 gold each, over the weekend, all 5 of them sold, you Rock !
