Question about scaling.

Ok, returning vet here, im currently R23 RR31 playing SW, when I queue into SCs I do great, typically top damage, high DB count, hit reasonable numbers ect, well geared, well gemmed, but in RvR, I generally hit for <dodge> or sub 50 damage against R40 players, I know some form of scaling is implemented, but I feel generally speaking I just get 2 shot and hit for 0, I understand having the best gear for your level is important but im near BiS till I ding 24 and can equip Mayhem, should I just rush to cap, because it generally seems pointless to participate in RvR content till then unless im missing something important.

I wish I could help to alleviate some of your lack of understanding but I am not knowledgeable of how scaling is calculated. But what I can offer is what I've heard and a bump to hope someone with greater knowledge will explain this in a little bit of detail so not only you can benefit from it but others in the same position as well.

Other players will often say that any lowbie will have no problems in RVR provided he has the best armor for his/her level. I'm not sure if this is something that is akin to iLevel in wow where you just need to equip something that has a higher item level and the stats involved don't mater at all, frankly, I'm not sure.

I know generally once I get to t3 rvr/sc sets like devastator I generally start to pick up and am able to contend with the big boys. Whether this is because the scaling works really well around these sets or it's because I'm getting closer to higher levels I couldn't tell.

Hopefully some of this knowledge helps. Best advice I personally can give is if you don't mind leaving your RR behind, just get to 40 and worry about catching up. But if you can endure the painful underpowered feeling til you are in t4 sc range you have more resolve than myself.

Get full Mayhem, I doubt your gear is currently that good (not your mistake). On SH this set was good enough to kill some rr70+.

The important thing you are missing is....wait for it......wait.....

Play what you enjoy! If you enjoy rvr play rvr, if you enjoy SC play SC, if you enjoy being one of the best on your server than you need to max your character a 2 day toon isn't going to be top

it errs on the side of survivability more than giving you on tier dmg. high ws and high avoidance come post 40, and ws seems to be a much bigger deal here. defensive armour procs on high tier sets are pretty powerful too

i'm lvling a very glassy choppa atm and have learned to avoid 40s, it's a noticable power jump. i think this is completely fair though. prey on other sub 40s, bolster just means you don't immediately die to stray aoe,it doesn't mean you can hunt large game yet. they're still way stronger than you

In my experience, Choppa was a total beast at rank 25 with full Mayhem set. :) Ofc not solo but at least in a duo.

the dmg is a little sickening on the right targets, though i do immediately die to fiery blasts that weren't even aimed at me. this is fine though

The only thing I know about the bolster mechanism is that you shouldn't let your gear fall behind your level to far. Make sure that every single piece of gear isn't more than 5 lvl below your level. In this range the bolster should work out pretty well.

Don't worry to much about the low dmg output against highlvl players, it still can happen even if you're 40+ by yourself 😅

Are most of your stats when bolstered hard or soft capped? I wonder if the issue of damage is related to not having a high enough ceiling to get bolstered to the right numbers. IE you hit the soft cap at 23 with 625 ballistic skill where as a lvl 40 SW hits the softcap at 1050.
And if that's the case maybe dodge is in a similar boat.

Edit: changed numbers for accuracy.

Ummm. What level 40 SW is only at 800 BS?
