How long to purge a name?

I came back to find I was the sole survivor of a guild and read that I could not quit if I was the leader. I deleted the character, only level 6, but the name I used is still listed as taken. How long after a character is deleted does a name become available?
Agent of Satan, but my duties are largely ceremonial.

I have heard until server reset.
