Most likely your team's dps isn't doing much dmg for the AMs to heal.

There are some differences between the 2. AM get a ST channel heal while Shamans get a hot. Shamans also get a tactic that could increase their heals that AMs dont have.

The differences probably dont come from those though, if I had to guess about your anecdotal observation.

From my experience the difference in heals usually comes from the capability of individual healers and the specific of the situation. They can all pump out good numbers if played well in an ideal environment.

There is an argument that could be made that Shamans have an easier route to a good situation with some of their survivability tools.

Shamans also have a healing M2 AMs dont have. But I am not experienced enough with the Shaman to know how good that is.
