Returning player, class advice needed!

Hello there fine folks!

I finally managed to get back to this game. Ah the nostalgia... decided to play Order side as they seem to be underpopulated. I had a familiar flashback about this from retail...  Problem is, most relevant posts about classes are too outdated to be reliable. NOTE: most of my experience comes from the WAR Trial! Haven't played up to endgame yet!

For now, I'll stick to tanking and healing. Which out of the 3 works best at most endgame content? With the changes to the classes I'm not sure they are as I know them before! Played WP mostly, knew least about AM, so-so about RP.
Tanks? Played IB and SM, KotBS runed me off with the constant aura-dance, even though they are powerful (+ I dont like the aesthetic, sry shinies! ^^). Played + loved Engi, but as I've read, RDPS is too highly populated now.
Personally, I think I'd prefer healing for the time being, that has the biggest impact, last I've recalled thte RvR lake fun.

Let me know what you think!
Good to be back :!: Cheers!

Same as before.
WP then RP for healers.
Knight then SM/IB (both are aight, knight is best).

Then you have AM, which is ok healing... and good at dps. So gives you more options.

knight is due a rework aaannnnyyyy day now. SM has received major changes from live, now having better group support. IB is a great class but difficult to play to potential

knight and SM are both real easy to pick up and play and perform as you would expect a tank to. as for healers, go with RP. AM is probably a little counter intuitive (though an excellent class), and WP will give you a painful start as it is one of the weakest pre-lvl 20 classes. runepriests are amazing, always in demand, really straightforward healers

My problem with AM/Shammy was before that I could not for the love of my life, optimise their healing output above avrage. Most likely a L2P issue. Still WP/DoK I enjoyed that double resource play. Might try my had with AM and see if it feels better now, who knows?

IB is a moving mountain yea, really liked that aspect. SM for that sword dance was just... somehow works, although I know its sub-par for dmg.
Does KotBS/Chosen still have that aura-dance they had in retail? As in constantly keeping up aura rotation to have the benefit of 3, but you could only have 2 active at a time?

Oh they will rework the knight? Interesting! Most likely I'll make an SM later down the road though, somehow I loved that class back in retail :)

AM I'm on the fence with now, since I really hated the mechanic they had in retail, could not get used to it. RP I liked the raw healing for sure. Did they change low level WP for some reason? They were quite potent healers in low T1-2 back in the day...? (though a good shammy and RP could still make them run for their money)

no i was just assuming you were newer than you must be, WP is basically the same. just the constantly having to AP to resources channel can confuse complete newbies. if you know what you're doing though it's a great class and one of the most unchanged from live

i dislike the AM mechanic greatly too, but you can just ignore it. it performs well as a healer if you use the AP tactics, kinda glassy but great ST burst heals. definitely worse than RP but a fun "pure" healer

Haha, fair enough!
Played a lot with WP and DoK, although only in Trial (so up to lvl 10), but I know how they work there at least ^^
As for AM... well I might give it a try and see how it goes, I like the basic idea, but not sure that without the mechanic I can pull healing numbers as the others? (+ read they got nerfed hard lately?)
RP is still a solid choice to fall back to though I think. Can be a blit bland if its similar to retail though :?

The mechanic for AM/sham is good when in dps/support mode. Not so great for pure healing. RP is still my fav for pure healing. Its strong all around with good CC, good surviability, good ST and good group heals. But for RvR WB, WP are kings.
SM is the highest damage tank on order here when 2H, by a good chunk. IB is second. knight has no damage.
Knight/Cho don't have to aura dance anymore, you can run 3 fixed aura all the time. And yes, we are promised a change on them for 3 years now. So, don'T hold your breath on that one imo.

I would run with RP / Zealot.

I don't have a DoK or WP, but for me it's best of both worlds, can heal smallscale, pve, dungeons.

you are mobile, you have good grp support and healing output.
only thing where Zealot is straight "worse" is cleansing.

but overall, pick what you feel is good looking and fits your playstyle.
all healers are valid if played deticated. :P

have a good one
