This utopian vision you have, where developers and staff are given nothing but appreciation and adoration from a grateful and starry-eyed community, makes me a little nauseous. In any just, societal organization, both criticism and support are two heads of the same coin. It is ultimately the responsibility you "knowingly" shelter the moment you decide to assume a leadership position of any kind.
With that being said, as long as the user has not deleted the game, it shows that the developers have left enough for them to enjoy and love in RoR. Although not explicitly said at all times, you should try and interpret this for what it is: gratitude, and a job done well enough to maintain the community's support. There is no need to hold hands and rid the community of discontent or contention, nor is that even feasible in any setting with positions of authority.
But honestly, your wording is disgusting to me. To indignantly label malcontents as "adolescents" reflects your own childish, egocentric need to place yourself above others. Since you value adulthood so highly, you should learn that this type of condescension is really the true indicator of a person who has never grown up. To selectively place your empathy in only those you deem an equal while maliciously disregarding and allocating others into some generalized inferior category...grow up.
There is a saying: "I think you may judge of a man’s character by the persons whose affection he seeks. If you find a man seeking only the affection of those who are great, depend upon it he is ambitious and self-seeking; but when you observe that a man seeks the affection of those who can do nothing for him, but for whom he must do everything, you know that he is not seeking himself, but that pure benevolence sways his heart." (Charles Haddon Spurgeon, 1876).
To put it simply, you can tell a lot about a person by how he treats the people he considers below him.
That's from the 19th century btw fam. As a fellow teacher myself, you're an embarrassment to education and social evolution alike.

Karma is definitely a beautiful idea, but I hope people that choose to live accordingly do it regardless of whether or not it's real, but because the world would be a better place if we acted like it were. I wonder how many people would actually act differently in life if they KNEW there wasn't some reward system in place that was gonna make all their good actions worth it at some point. (not that it's possible to know such things)Telen wrote: Thu Aug 30, 2018 4:44 pm As Thom put it "Karma is an important idea. I like it. It makes me nicer to people. It fills me with joy."

It's all right. Breathe deep. Now go to a dictionary and try to work out the differences in meaning between "criticism" and "whining". When you do your whole post crumbles into meaninglessness. I would very much like you to quote me stating that the devs shouldnt receive any criticism. I for one draw a very clear line between criticism and whining. The former is positive and necessary, the former is negative and immature. You can do better. Don't let your anger get the best of you.soliticks wrote: Fri Aug 31, 2018 8:32 pm This utopian vision you have, where developers and staff are given nothing but appreciation and adoration from a grateful and starry-eyed community, makes me a little nauseous. Regarding your quote, another assumption you make. I am not looking for anybody's affection. I wanted to give everyone their due. I love the way some people are in this forum and consider other pathetic. Devs and players alike. But i do identify with a sector of people in this forum. And surprise, it's not the devs, although I am very grateful to them. It is with all those people who play the game and never whine nor insult, but enjoy this game and are critical with respect, not with drama. The people I identify myself with.
You, sir, are a disgrace to your profession because you let your anger make you react and make a lot of assumptions, disregarding truth and objectivity.
I said all I have to say and was not going to respond to any of the posts here, but an ad hominem like that deserved a response. (Not a reaction, like some I have had in this thread). This is my last reply here, no matter what follows. I wash my hands of any future assumptions or misrepresentations.

Re: AMAZED AT SOME PEOPLE
You are correct. And there is nothing anyone can do abou it, well besides those that are behind the game. I´m pretty sure they will remove anyone that misbehaves, or they should.
And yes, there are several things i would like to see fixed, but there is constructive critiscism, and being a soiled brat.
