Just remove the pet and make the stances the only class mechanic.

Not only it's against the class lore but also makes no sense thematically. "Look at me kill big cats to prove my strenght and take their pelts to craft cloaks and armor, but suddenly I felt the urge to tame one of them to fight alongside me while I wear its mother carcass on my back! Yay!"

The whole pet thing was just lazy destro-have-a-pet-class-so-give-order-one-too design choice by Mythic. Since the RoR dev team now have the capability to improve on the game, there's no reason not to.

Everyone and their mums had a WL knowingly cause it was Op and Cheeze mode.

As usual, I highly praise the staff for these changes.

keep on rocking!

That's not entirely true. A few White Lions did train a War Lion, but most did not. So having one pet mastery wouldn't be that far off.

If the pet is removed... Then they'd have to replace Coordinated Strike with some Convulsive Slashing mirror... but then the WL loses some burst, and no one really uses CS...............

Dont mind the changes, am actually interested in trying WL now.

The one problem I have right now is with the woodsman tree. Whirlwind, the first tactic, modifies nothing but the level 14 ability. I think I know the reason for it, but it still seems like it's very awkwardly placed.

It's essentially a 15 point tactic taking up the 4 point tactic slot. Maybe there is nothing to be done about it and I am being too critical, but it doesnt seem very polished.

Max level its essentially a non issue, while you are leveling you can see the flaw though.

Hi,

Here are my feedback after first day, or more precisely proposal for change.
I won't even talk about that Aoe spec as i am not intersted in bomb playstyle. Could do some test tho if you 'd like it.

This post is not a whine.

so, I respecced as a Axeman / Hunter.

Lets talk about the abilities.

1) Pounce : since the ability is really high in the tree, it should be a bit more rewarded. Giving light toughness buff or something? Or reduce cooldown for 5sec As you cannnot choose to be tanky and get that ability like before, little bit of mobility would help.

2) Stance :
I like the idea of making stances, its a bit hard to learn those new mechanics when you played the class for many years but hey, an elf always adapt i guess.

a) I Think the KD and the silence should not be in the same stance has it gives the same immunity. Silence should be in axeman stance.

b) Hunter stance is only good for FO and the KD. maybe remove Coordinated strike as hunter Stance might be nice.

c) Woodsman stance for buff : Best buff for axeman which gave a nice dmg proc as been removed for the AOE spec. as a consequence The axeman burst is lower than it used to be (25% less dmg for 10 sec)
The buff now require to be in woodsman stance and gives tougness and strengh ( StR bugged atm btw), it should be core, becauce changing a stance just for one buff is really annoying. As the burst is way less then before, the tougness buff of this ability would really help the axeman.

I think Axeman / hunter should be a bit more rewarding playing at, cause it needs good skills compare to the AOE (bot) spec, as woodsman dont even have to bother changing stance. Maybe lower the CD of the stance at 3 sec cause if you fail to switch stance (missclik or miss pressbutton) you are screwed cause you can't use any efficient abilities for 5 sec.

To be honnest, i am a bit salty about this AOE spec. I am calling it, DEstro will whine more about that AOe WL than the guardian, because now they have the power to melt WB, not just single players.

hope it can help !

Personally not a fan of this whole pseudo-mara WL. I much rather preferred the idea of introducing beastmaster (wl mirror) to des and emp captain (mara) to order. That way you are just introducing new options and not making anyone feel like their class is taken away from them (or rather changed into something totally different). WL, especially guardian specced one was always good at bullying squishies (check Avellett's vid from 2010 if you dont believe) and sucked at larger scale.

I never cared about how WL performs in WB's. Rather it filled the niche role of being perfect for 1-3 man roaming while hunter- axeman was decent for 1fg play. Also I very much liked microing the pet and its abilities. Ofc you could blow up squishies pressing 123 but trying to play the class on its full potential was actually really fun and more challenging than any other class ive played in this game. Not saying guardian wasnt OP or anything… it was for sure and I have no idea what would have been best way of nerfing guardian. I believe it was Torque who had nice outside-the-box thinking nerfs on guardian initially (putting LF in M4 spot and later changed pet str stat gain from wounds to toughness) although end result was still too OP.

If I was in charge I would revert the latest change and probably have guardian spec WL's pet gain stats on str but reduce stat gain ratios so the end result would be squishier WL and pet that hits less hard but is still useful and WL would still very much be gimped if pet dies... like it has been since forever. Also I would have been nerfing heal tactic (Aza did this in the last patch which was definitely good change imo) and armor/disrupt tactic. Thats my vision for the class anyway... yours is probably different.

What I've experienced so far was:
- speccing FO and heal rebuff, you're lacking mobility of pounce to even get to the target.
- speccing FO and pounce is ok, but stance dance is not really viable with that cooldown.
- speccing whirling axe + tactic and that str/tough shout makes you quite tanky when ready. that could be nice for rvr, but I don't care how any class is doing in zerg fights, it's mostly a numbers game. also I've got skill points to spare.

What really annoys me is the pet speed. No use in micro managing it. It's too slow to catch up and everyone sees it coming, so fetch is more than underwhelming.

Tested extensively. Much less burst, practically no sustained damage, and next to no survivability. Our "CC" doesn't work. Without stalker, speed training doesn't really work. So fetching things on the run are next to impossible unless they stop. In purely quantitative terms, we do subpar damage compared to other mdps. Also switching stances with a 5 second cooldown virtually makes going into Hunter a 4 second "do nothing" period. Being as objective as I can be for someone that mains a White Lion, I feel the class is broken. Leveling other characters to keep up with the meta that is changing nowadays on a weekly basis...I just don't have it in me. This wasn't a Guardian nerf, it was a White Lion nerf. Hunter/Axeman performed much better before. Giving up for now. Take care all. Had a lot of fun!
