Even on 40 u can run subpar builds or gear cos u lack a point here or there. On my wh I still run 4 anni instead conq+dom gear cos I need that 1 extra mastery point to finish my build.
So I like that but imo start from rr 25 or 30 and give 1 mastery on each 5 lvls or renown

And give extra point only when exp lvl reach renown lvl req not solely from renown lvls

I always viewed it as a “carrot”. I like that not every white lion that i encounter has FO plus a murdering pet :^)

25-30-35-40 also sounds quit reasonble.

The way I see it is the top 1% RR players should be feared on the battlefield as they are experienced battle-hardened veterans and a few extra mastery points to show for it makes for a more immersive death for their foes. Too bad there's not one for 80!

Also I'm not sure of ur premise here, idk of any classes that lack crucial tools until rr 50+. Sure they may unlock a better specc but the impact is limited afaik. If you would elaborate or give examples i'll read it!

(little offtopic spoilered)
Spoiler:
The most impactful area I would look at is after CR 31, where your bolster goes to crap. I would unlock all the RR's you've gained above your CR, because it's just not fair fighting opponents with access to 70+ renown points and you are rr 45 but only have access to 32 of them.
The veterans allready have better stuff then those sub 40 does in terms of renown points to spend, gear to chose between, aswell as mastery points. Question is, why does it need to be everything? From a buisness model perspective it's easy to explain this. Pay monthly fees for a longer period of time and you get rewarded for it. Thing is, RoR is not a subscription based platform and don't gain anything from it. Better gameplay and ballance will keep players around.

More Mastery points open up more options. Especially in those tri-builds. It doesn't aply to moast classes at rr50 as you have pretty much all tools at that point. But does for some. Like this Engiebuild for example.

RoR.builders - Engineer

At sub lvl 40 you start to lose the option to get crucial skills to even make class function decent. Not only that, but you also lose tactics slots and at very low ranks even proper tactics.
Yep i see, thx for explaining!

while I understand the carrot on a stick part of why we get the last mastery point at rr70, I also like the proposition.

Although I would just make it a bit higher to achieve like 35/40/45/50.
rr50 is a sweet place where u have spent quite a bit of hours on the character , without being too long to reach.

If you shift the extra Master Points down, there nothing for players to work for post-r40/rr45 (unless they want Overlord/Imperator skins); they'll either switch to an alt or move on to a different game.
Live: Karak-Azgal = Sedok, Golgaroth, Sakneth / Karak-Norn = Xnohrx, Alfriger, Volgarn / Vaul's Anvil = Alfriger, Volgarn, Dolgarn

RoR: Volgarn, Golgarn, Alfriger, Kelthazuul, Sedok

while that's surely something to add, I am not sure those that go for very high RR ranks instead of rerolling/whatever do it for a mastery point or two.

Didn't the whole thread, my apologies if it has already been brought up.

Generally speaking I do agree with the proposal, but wouldn't it run counter to the latest balance approachs (i.e.: Guardian WL)?

to be frank if WL (or any class) has a problem with something , that something should be looked at and not just shoved away from low ranked people.
talking in general.

Not necessarily a bad thing to switch to alts.
