Getting special bag after hours of contribution

Are you sure about 1 hour of idleness though? I always thought it was 2 hours (but can't find the patch with the notes about that)

Was in Praag for hours today, guarding BOs constantly, tagged lots of people, was on lord spamming attacks from 80% HP till he died, pretty sure I got about 3 bubbles of renown from kills+BO ticks, yet when the zone flips I get

It says I did modest effort, got 10 medallions in a zone that's not my racial which I believe is max possible, 3k+ renown tick from flipping zones, all things that only happen when you put in some work as far as I know, yet I get stuck with a special bag and no chance at rolling for a real bag or roll bonuses. I would love to understand how my hours of work was deemed unworthy of a chance at a roll that I have gotten on multiple characters just for logging in and killing maybe 3 people in a couple minutes before the zone flips.

I don't see no reason to complain there was a glorious time in kadrin walley when you fight for 3 days and stil get no rewards

I may not remeber correctly but as I understood it the 10 (or 20 medallions if in your own racial pairing) was based on relative contribution, not an absolute contribution. Is that not the case? I have wondered myself as I have gotten 20 medallions paired with a special bag twice (one of those times my group had the top 3 destro kills in the zone after 2 hours of fighting, i.e. not exactly special bag worthy).

I joined the battle in Praag around 20:30 CEST until zone locked around 23:00 and most of the time we defended our keep including some mass fights and wiping destruction out of our keep; I paused for 15 minutes and spent not much time at BOs, also not roaming that much and my contribution led to 8k renown (plus around 25k for battles), some Medaillons (don't remember how many) and a blue bag, which seems legit at least in comparison.

Bear in mind your renown rank
On my lowbie alts I can get 40-50k renown under 1 hour, each kill is worth tons of RR when you are the scrub
On my main if we have no AAO I often end up with less than 10k renown per hour (each kill worth less than 10 rp as it usually is divided between lots of players and being tank doesn't help getting high damage contribution)

Does that matter? Not really, after certain point you stop playing for renown or gear and just stay for the sake of fun

From my pov you tried to game the system instead of following the advice we usually give (play the game and the objectives). All this talk about 'tagging' enemies and stuff... I'd say system worked very well here.

Nothing except switching characters lower your contribution.

I defended BOs almost the whole time, took part in every fight that came near them that I saw, and then went to keep and helped kill the lord after doors were down. I wasn't trying to game the system. My internet sucks sometimes and if I go near zergs I crash to desktop and/or lag out so I try to stay near small scale stuff and guarding BOs gets me more of that with less work and better odds than roaming solo and I also thought it was supposed to be helping the realm with sieges ammo/strength or other things, not something I should be getting punished for. You say I didn't play the objective, I was literally on objectives almost the entire time I was in the zone. I did the same thing next zone I fought in, got less renown and medallions, modest effort again, spent less time there, and got to roll on a bag so I really just don't understand what I did wrong in this zone. https://imgur.com/a/0p0Cj

I've come in at the tail end of a zone flip, got a few kills, and gotten to role quite a few times, I'm pretty sure I ended up with less renown relative to other people in the zone in those instances compared to this one. Is time not a factor in the equation at all, because it really feels like spending periods of time with no action is outweighing my contribution and if that's the case I'd gladly just log out instead of guard BOs when it's slow, not worth losing my roll over for trying to be helpful.

it was 1 hour when i tested it.
though it was very very long time ago.
not sure if it still does reset.
need to test it again.

today i played WP in DW for 40min.
scored 5 ~ 10 assist.
few BO fights. few rez and hitting lord.

order had big numbers and won the zone.
i expected 2 or 3 conq medals but got 9.

are medal rewards shared in the zone?

Whole 5 assist? You were busy I see. 604 renown means you did almost nothing.

However Im not sure why you got 2 rolls .
