I have been playing on this server for four years, and people who knows me, know that I do not enter the forum unless I think something is very wrong or unbalanced. I have also seen the conversation between @Hargrim and Insultus (Patch Notes 13/01/18, page 12), and I found it a bit curious, if not ... funny. I will try not to sound so hostile.
One of the biggest problems of this server, is not the bugs that have, or "unbalanced" that are the classes or skills, but the community. If you have a serious and pleasant community, you would not use bug exploits, cheats, etc. nor xrealm, which is the cancer of the rvr, as well as give a bad feedback so that a change in some class or ability is made and to be able to exploit it.
I have played these 4 years on both sides, but seasonally, and when I say seasons, I mean 2 years in one and another 2 in another, but if I choose a side, I am in it for real, I never changed sides in a battle I do not intend to do. This is good to know the classes, how to play and understand it. So I think I've seen enough on this server to comment.
It does not make sense to buff the siege weapons according to flags because it will benefit the besieger, and you will say, "What you have is to capture flags", sure, you mean if there is no zerg, or if the defending side has a number of enough units to try something or afford to leave the keep. If you are besieging a keep, is that the thing is very ****, is not there by accident. You can break the ram of course, but you only gain time. 80% of the time in a siege the attacking side wins, it does not matter if it becomes funnel inside as Hargrim says, what you get with that is that people get tired and leave.
And what's more, I'll tell you why xrealm happens, close a zone, gives many more rewards to the winning side, (I will not go into what I think of the rolls, the contribution and the system itself) nobody wants to lose , everyone wants to win and kill, and they do not care about the side. And this is what makes it a bad community, speaking in general of course, I have found wonderful people as well as some GM too.
How can this be resolved? To open more zones is seen that it does not work because people tend to congregate at the same point with the false idea that they will gain more if they do so (by the way, I do not approve the mixture of tier2-3-4 in it), the server can not stand many people in the same zone, many people can invoke the zerg, that mythological blind and clumsy creature that is usually found semi-afk in the flags or uphill-hill down in a silly fight, making the great idea of the gm that came up with this, in which Napoleon and Alexander the Great play the game by directing wbs with masterful strategy, to become the old ror in which the rvr is boring, although at least, now the zerg will close it earlier. I know that the gms are not blind and that they see this kind of thing and will experience it first-hand, otherwise, I'll let you know what will happen, take this as a constructive criticism, although I realize that it has a certain bitter touch.
I wonder if you could put a cap of players per zone, I mean, beyond 80% of aao, can not enter more players from the opposing faction, so that if they change their realm, most of them can not enter ( because the aao would change for the other side, it would be the entry of "new players" + the existing players), with percentages of course, to be able to balance it better, or to put a faction debuff(i really like this idea), if you have logged in and then change to the other faction, now you cant do rvr for ... one day, with the faction that you have changed (but you can with which you entered pvp). It would be a drastic way to raise people's awareness.
Is a bit long, so I´ll end up saying that in these 4 years, I stopped playing many times for months, due to certain patch notes that made the game unplayable, injustices and nonsense that I saw throughout my passage, but that I can say is that the server has improved a lot (for good) in the last 2 years, they have fixed a lot of failures, improved the systems of scenarios like Serpents Passage (post in which I commented as it had to be fixed, I have to say) and some failed attempts to fix the rvr, but they are appreciated (white bags for everyone!,... if you get a bag). You still have a lot left, cheer up.

Pretty sure Yali already said they were looking into something like this but it will probably take time to implement.Rhungk wrote:I wonder if you could put a cap of players per zone, I mean, beyond 80% of aao, can not enter more players from the opposing faction, so that if they change their realm, most of them can not enter

What bad feedback has resulted in changes being made that facilitate to exploiting? Sounds like a lot of hot air. Sure the team get criticised, but Penril & Torque are pretty much the antitheses of OP/exploitable changes.

Prettu sure anyone with brains avoids xrealming to the winning side. Rather, I suspect that more often its clever people hopping to the "losing" side to get better AAO and better bags for "losing" heroically. You get better gear and renown gain potential from being a "loser".
Winning is mediocre reward lately.
As for side losing numbers, its not that people actively xrealm to zerging side, but rather people either log off and play other games, go sleep, go eat, go watch TV... you can notice daily trends of Oceanic players leaving, Russians logging in and logging off, Central/West Europeans logging in and off, then early NA players to late NA players until its Oceanic shift again. Mostly population is balanced, but certain timezones have certain trends for one or the other side, until that trend changes again.

Well the idea of lotd, and what it was based on darkness falls in daoc, was meant to be an area with the best farming and gear available in the game. Where the realm with the most pop would usually be the one unlocking it. Then a proportion of their players would go there making rvr more equal. Worked alot better in daoc due to it working alongside 3 realms and relics forcing losing faction alliances.

Not sure if this is another X-realm whine thread or OP is whining about something else.
