Feeback for Veteran/regular players of ROR

Just a little feedback for the veteran / regular players on this new server from a newly returned WAR player. Played WAR back in the day from Beta to Launch and on and off till 2013. Got tempted back after hearing of a new private server, and yesterday thought I'd install and give it a go.

Spent 5 hours levelling up and pvping, and must say that the amount of times I got laughed at and taunted by the opposition in Scenarios, usually when we were outnumbered; and being a low level with **** gear for dying fast... really sapped my enthusiasm for again playing one of my fave online games of all time. Even got ridiculed by a high level faction member at one point for not healing 5 people fast enuff.

It Really didn't make much sense to me, as would have thought EVERYONE playing would WAR again would be WAR fans, and would be really glad that WAR was back, and that the majority of players would be trying to promote the game, and the community, and be encouraging new players to keep playing.

I probably would have uninstalled and gone and played something else after this continued abuse, except that a faction member took myself and another 5 hour noobie aside and gave us some tips, and a little bit of basic gear. Kind of renewed my faith in a community I used to love.

So in a summary, if you've been playing for 6 weeks, and have good gear and gold, try not to be an elitist snob, and be a little encouraging to new players. After all, without new players, and a growing community, all that's going to happen is you're going to have a few hours of glory before watching this game die again.

War always had an element in the community of sociopaths far worse than any other mmo Ive ever played hopefully they aren't allowed to flourish even more on this server

What Telen said. Also the " afraid to die in pvp game " attitude is still going strong in here, But most people in RoR ive played/chatted with are very nice=) Welcome and lets hope you enjoy it here.

Edit. Also /Taunt emote can mean that the player wants to duel you. In Eltharion that was always used for duels, more common is /Bow or /Point though.

Yeah Sini, I've met quite a few from both factions that were very nice. Good to see. And I've had the misfortune of meeting Telen in battle a few times. Got my ass handed to me, but always respectfully and never a laugh or a nasty word lol, so kudos for that

Yeah there's always been dickheads in WAR, like all competitive games. I guess it's just more dangerous during a 'fragile' time like this. At the moment it seems the good spirited people outnumber the bad, let's hope it continues

There will always be douches, I try to just let that stuff roll off my back. Had a few SCs where we were significantly outnumbered and got repeatedly taunted. Told them to enjoy their time fighting no one, farmed a little, logged back in later and enjoyed good fights again.

...I only taunt people I know...except last night...PORKSHOT...was overextending to get that gitface! Not sure why, probably just because I am a SH at heart. Could also be I drank way too much Troegs Nugget Nectar....sorry porkshot

Those were fun. You got me a couple times. Nice to see a SW getting up front and aggressive.

I'm glad someone helped you out. For the most part people are friendly on both sides and I hope they don't remove crossfaction /tell. Every now and then you get a baddy that has been getting beat all night and once they have enough back-up to hide their lack of skill/coordination they lash out. Just ignore them.

I think the current state of the game feeds these people, specifically scs. Having people of a certain immature gamer type that had been used to running fotm premades being dropped in random pug scs where suddenly they arent as skilled as they thought they were. They just aren't mature enough to have xchat in that situation. They cant help making their feeling of insecurity known to everyone within the sc.

When we have proper rvr the community will divide into like minded people. Some with these personalities will gravitate together. You'll have the nice social guilds and the lake soloers aswell. Right now with only scs its feeding these cod type players.

I think xchat is a necessary part of testing. At some point abusing players of the other faction via tells or especially open world channels just isn't on though.

only a heavy minority of people do the kind of stuff that op is talking about. almost all are known by name and shunned by even their own faction

most players want a decent fight, not 10 minutes standing outside the wc. unbalanced scs used to be a huge problem but now it's not so bad. more and more people seem to be crossrealming and switching faction when scs turn into steamrolls

I just like to shout ''Charge you pig ****'' before charging people
