as i rememberd right, at the old war events you could earn an item which was meant to place over the helmet placement in the character menue. those kinda items need to get back imo.

Glad to hear this. Event which distracts people from PVP to farm PVE champions/dungeon/whatever - no, thanks. Anything else - sure, why not?

If Daemonnette and Vengful Elf was actually an HERO on lvl 17* instead of a quest giver, but being the actual quest for each and every side it would create more rvr combats in the rvr lakes. Since the rvr lock isn't functional and doesn't turns over that easily as it did once before I think events that encourage average players to fight harder, maneuver the landscape and continuesly try new ways of engaging the enemy player would contribute to the game most in the long run.

* This becomes alittle like the early stages of T2, when people had to defend the keep lord from the attackers but at one smaller stage and in event form. Once the Hero is killed, the spawn time could be long (30min?) and gives the upperhand to one side to focus primarly to bring other faction hero down while waiting to defend their own.

I personally feel that the last event was occupied by Destruction 70% of the time, so even if you had a professional party to take out certain monsters you wouldn't stand against the hordes of hell. Then you were forced to wait until more order choose to login and help you (somehow) to draw attention elsewhere. Otherwise it was fun all the way to the last quest which took me four hours to complete.

Yea stealing loot with we was easy too .
Retail event system was good sc time envolwing only 1 reward per char as a q reward that y can chose (will , str , tuff ) and ofc not tradable.
And what with event item slot ?? will be so good put there somthing with limited time works that will be up from one event to another.
soz 4 my english

In the night of the murder event there where icons over the heads of random players.
When events have special items that only drop, it would be nice to have the drops from players that are flagged like this. After killing a player with an icon, the icon should be given to the player who got the deathblow. Maybe there could be some protection against two players farming each other (a player can only be flagged again after a random time of 15-20 minutes, or something like that).
But i think this is a "little" too much coding effort atm. :D

Edit: Oh, i just read

My humble opinion: this event was interesting for people with the following motivation:

1) Pure RvR killing each other - they were in absolute minority, just compare the amount of those who fought each other for lulz and those who ignored each other unless those others were attacking mobs
2) Getting better gear, because gear is important
3) Getting better gear while killing each other, because gear is important and there is reason to kill the other guys - they try to get your precious gear

I still believe that most people play MMO games for the sake of improving their character(s). Providing their character(s) with incenitive of getting something useful (gear) or just nice (skins, titles, dyes) will motivate them to participate in the event.
Current RvR situation is not very motivating - RR gains are much lower than in scenarios, you need to find the enemy, the enemy needs to find you, most people want at least relative balance.
BTW, that's one of the reasons WoT was a stunning success - Fast Combat with Relative Balance. Press one button, get into battle lasting maximum 15 minute (and for most players 2 minutes), have fun, die there, return to hangar, grab another tank, press the button ololo.

I respect all those who believe in pure RvR with no gear need, but even watching the event's fights it seems that they are in minority.

TL;DR: Reward must be interesting enough for people to participate or they will return to scenarios, gear grinds or facebooks.

2 things are needed to have rvr start properly.
Players drops and Dammaz Kron.

Every class should be able to accomplish the whole event content. Furthermore it really felt like grinding to have a chance on the special cloaks. That was no fun.
The positioning of event quest givers within rvr lake was bad on order side. One could say it is a counter to aoe spamming but on destro side they are right in front of wc, while they are quite inside the lake for order. The best way to push back a bigger force is aoe bombing but order just had to stand close to their npcs to be save.

Good was the event location within rvr lake.

Pure rvr event goals make only sense with fixed xp/rp distribution. What kills rvr at the moment is the fact, that only the player/party with the killing blow gets any rewards. For example healing other players not in your group makes no sense, because they get the reward and you get nothing for helping them.
Dying is no option.
