Re: PC (Gpu) died and with it my Win7 + RoR
Hello all, I hope there are some experienced users out there, who are willing to help me out.
Since 3 days I had some sort of Flickering ingame and yesterday it started to give me one green and one brownish screen (I use 2 Monitors, the 2k for gaming, the hd for browsing etc.)
At one of my last crashes, (before it was only "Display driver stopped working and was rebootet"), it messed up everything so hard, that I could not even repair windows in secured mode with system recovery.
All I could do was to reinstall windows + getting a windows.old folder with all my old programms etc.
EDIT: I did multiple reinstallations of NVIDIA drivers + driver cleaning etc. And at one point some registrys of my bootsector got borked, thats why my Windows installation was messed up beyoned repair, and trust me, I googled and tested around 6 hours before I decided to fresh install and save my data via "Windows.old" folder (there are settings for chrome shortcuts thunderbird mails etc. stored)
My problem is, that all programms, and I had many, do not work due to lack of registly entries or whatever.
So I have to reinstall everything.
Gladly my RoR was always on my old HDD and strangely it still workd.
Yesterday I could test it with the CPU inbuilt GPU (only 30-55 fps but hey).
Can I just copy the whole RoR folder with this 4gb ram tool (saw it in Glorians technical speedup thread), into my SSD drive and happyly enjoy faster loading times? Or does it also require some sort of registry stuff, so it would be broken too?
I remember I had big trouble installing RoR back than. + I had a long break and came back 1 month ago, so I have no clue anymore how all worked out.
Also: I wanted to ask what kind of GPU you would suggest me for RoR and very importantly Path of Exile.
My goal was to build a new PC next year, and I think I am better off, buying a budget GPU (250€-320€) and next year building my new beast.
My old GPU was already outdated 780 gtx on 2k monitor, so it should also run newer games like path of exile on 2k.
My system is: I7 4770k, MSI GD86 MOBO, 16 gb ram, Win 7 ultimate
Thanks in advance to any sort of help.

WAR needs no registry entries and be copy&paste'ed on a new harddrive. You could even play from a fast usb stick.
Dying is no option.

Re: PC (Gpu) died and with it my Win7 + RoR
Does somebody know if RoR is compatible with 2k Ultrawide monitors? Because I am thinking about buying a new monitor now and not next year
Re: PC (Gpu) died and with it my Win7 + RoR
idk about resolution but ultrawide is no problem, the char select is a bit funky but rest if fine for me.
I sincerely doubt 2k res would be any issue more then the extra horsepower needed to drive it
EDIT:
I run
http://us.aoc.com/product_feature.php?id=18
and its the best monitor I´ve ever had tbh
I have a normal widescreen to the side of it but this one is just amazing, aint ever going away from ultrawide after this monitor

Nice, thanks a lot Natherul. I was thinking about an Asus Rog the 2560x1090 but they are pretty expensive.Natherul wrote:idk about resolution but ultrawide is no problem, the char select is a bit funky but rest if fine for me.

When I find a nice offer, I will definitely grab one.
Do you have any ingame screenshot? I saw it only from Path of Exile and it looks amazing.
I have read, that many games do not support such resolutions (even modern games), thats why I am curious if it really works well in Warhammer.
But very nice, this comment made me a bit more happer (and I am still mad about 2 days wasted with troubleshoot etc

I use a Yamakazi Monitor since 2 or 3 years but I really prefer ultrawide instead of my 2560x1440 27 inch

That looks pretty sweet, it looks like you have much more space for the UI stuff on the sides. With the ordinary Monitors it seems everything is more cluttered together.
