Presuming for a moment the OP isn't purely about trolling, SWs get a number of buffs to their stats from their stances that SHs with pets don't. They also get various benefits from pets that SWs get from their stances, such as the 10% increased range or the autoattack on the move (likely the most important one for SH), and SWs don't have to rely on a partially Artificial Idiocy-controlled NPC that is plagued by a wide variety of bugs and can be killed quite easily, with 30s cooldown on that specific squig (unless you use one of your tactic slots for I Got Lots) versus the 5s cooldown of stance switching. Stance switching is instant and thus can be done while moving, summoning squigs takes 2s and you have to be stationary (unless using the 60s CD Tastes Like Chicken or the 20s CD 55 AP Farty Squig to destroy the squig).
Just to compare:
Scout Stance gives 10% range, a boost to Ballistic Skill and Initiative. The Horned Squig only gives 10% range.
Skirmish Stance gives autoattack while moving, +5% crit chance and Toughness. Spiked Squig only gives autoattack while moving and +5% crit chance.
Assault Stance gives armor, converts BS and Ranged Power and Ranged Critical to melee, and a bonus to Strength and Weapon Skill (and a few more benefits now). Gas Squig only gives armor, while Squig Armor does the ranged-to-melee, except of course the bonus to Str and WS, not to mention it disables almost all of the SH's abilities in exchange for a few unique to it.
So essentially, SHs get pets, pet abilities and pet damage while the SWs get raw buffs (with a more reliable mechanic).

Hmm... Sounds like the SW is the ranged mirror of a mara.... Odd.... And not the mirror of a SH.... Hmm. Yes nerf the mara, will still play the class <3

Mechanicaly wise sw is same as mara as is sh to wl. So if sw doesnt have to switch stances to use his/her abilities... Maras dont either... Se what i did there 
But yes in terms of abilities sw is mirror of squiggy. I am a mara... I want POUNCE! Haha not really but sounded good haha
