First time there so... hello everyone.
Recently i found this server and because I haven't had a chance to try war online as a kid, it's good time to do it now. My previous wow exprience helped me adapt easily, but still i would ask some questions.
1. I've heard that classes aren't perfectly mirrored, which becomes a balancing issue. Therefore question: is there class, that I should avoid, because it's counterpart does job much better? While I don't mind harder or more complicated characters i don't like feeling, that I could do better, but I chosen poorly. Role doesn't really matter, because when I slightly prefer healers, I've eventually learned to embrace, play and have fun from healing, tanking or murdering.
2. Are there any guides about classes/game/tiers/anything? Because I like to read and learn few things before I start playing myself.
3. How long it takes to make max lvl?
4. Is it reasonable to play solo, or am I better with looking for guild straight away?
5. When I tested game I've got few items without any description (mostly potions). Can I find any info or these without just testing them? And if this is bug, then is there any way to fix it?
6. How early can I start pvp? Because as far as I know, this game is all about that.
Beginner questions.

Re: Beginner questions.
1. Depends on whom you ask. Some say Order classes are totally OP because Order Players are bad and need class buffes, while some others say destro whines and then gets a nerf on an Order class. Overall every class has its role in later RvR. Only the true solo classes like Witch Elf and Witch Hunter are more tailored for Solo and 6 man play. Because when armies clash the ability to stab one guy in the back is not that usefull to kill 9 players at once.Oshari wrote:First time there so... hello everyone.

Play what you want, good Healers and Tanks are needed on every side and asked for in SC groups or lair boss groups.
2. See: viewforum.php?f=70 There you will find class discussions and some class overviews. Not for all though. I have made one for Engineers here: viewtopic.php?f=74&t=22035
3. Max lvl is currently lvl 40 Renown 80. But not much Players are there as above Renown 60 progression is slowed. But if you get 40/40 you are good for T4. On how it takes I dont know. In the lower lvls you can grind 1 lvl per hour. 36-40 is getting harder there you need 3 hours for a lvl or more.
4. Guild straight away. MMOs are mostly boring if you dont have someone to chatter or play with.
5. The early potions you get from the quests are a little bit broken, not really lokked at. Ignore them. The real potions you can get later and brew yourself have allways a description.
6. You can go directly PvP lvl 2 or 3 in the T1 Areas. At Lvl 16+ you can join the merged T2-T4 battlefields.

Depends on class and whether you grind solo or not.Glorian wrote: 3. ... In the lower lvls you can grind 1 lvl per hour. 36-40 is getting harder there you need 3 hours for a lvl or more.
Dying is no option.
Re: Beginner questions.
My personal take on this
1. Classes are mirrored but faction wise, not class vs class. The global balance toon-wise is fine, not perfect as it can't be perfect, but It's not as terrible as some claim. As a new player try different toons and see what you find the most fun to play.
2. See Glorian's response.
3. Don't focus on trying to max level but enjoy the ride and have fun. I need less than 2 hours to get to level 7, after that till level 15 I get easily 3 levels every 2 hours but I know my stuf and how to do it, you do not yet.
4. See Glorian response. And nowdays in the T2+ lakes it's about 200+ vs 200+ during peeks so you shouldn't feel alone when you have a bit of social skills.
5. Those potions from quests and PQ's are some old useless stuff that Mythic never dared to properly address or fix back then. Just sell them.
6. You'll normally start in T1 empire and should be level 4/5/6 when reaching the warcamp in Nordland. From there on it's up to you, join the fight in T1 (type .rvr in "say" to check which T1 zone(s) is/are active) or go on leveling up in PVE.

Re: Beginner questions.
Basically you can even join SCs without even ever moving your character from fresh creation spawn rank 1. Or you ignore all quests and leave the starting area northbound, reach the warcamp and join RvR from there at rank 1.

Re: Beginner questions.
mirors... that is a torny argument...
mechanical side... class are mirrored between the 2 faction (every class of a faction has it's own specific mechanics and there is a class from the opposite faction with the same mechanics)
skillset side... mechanical mirrors share a certain amount of skill (some are exactly the same, some have minor differences such as the type of damage), but there are also completely different skill avaible to mirrors that can define the playstyle
mastey side... mirrors share the same mastery concept (if one class has an AoE focused mastery it's mirror will also have an AoE focuse mastery) but mastery skill are not always mirrored, sometime they are perfeclty identical... sometime there are some differences (like on dealing more damage while the other apply a status) sometime they have completely different skill
tactic side... this is probably what complicate things the most... as tasctics can greatly influence the effecincy of a certain playstyle or even open up a completely different playstyle to the classes them being not mirrored open up great differences between the so called mirrors...
all in all... when one mirror lack in soething he has something else... unfortunately like every other game there is a "meta" with some classes performing better in the given meta that its mirror it open up a lot of discussion ^^'. One class begin right out better that its mirror is not really a thing... aside from maybe a single instance... but let keep those argument out of here ^^
Note: there is one special case with mirrors that concern the double pairing of White Lion & Shadow Warrior VS Marauder & Squig Herder... those 2 classes actualy are "Cross mirrors" in the fact that they have crossed mechanic/skillset... WL are mechanical mirrors of SH but share part of their skillset and role with Mara, SW are mechanical mirror of Mara but share part of their skillset and role with SH...
