New factions

I am glad with the great work the development team has put in resurrecting Warhammer Online, though I have never played the game and is unlikely I would ever be able to play it I still enjoy everything about Warhammer, expect for Games Workshop pathetic attempt at ramming Space Marines down the throats of the fantasy fanbase by destroying the entire setting in perhaps in one of the worst ways possible and rebooting it in the form of Age of Sigmar which there is no possible way for anybody could ever take seriously.

Sorry Games Workshop there is no way I am ever going to willingly touch that shite especially denying me the chance to get into the fantasy game. If I ever wanted fantasy marines there could of been dozens of different ways it could of been handled better. Nonetheless I am glad that there is some form of the old game setting still alive in some fashion and that I was able to get involved in the 40k verse before the inevitable end times.

Now back onto the main topic I am trying to talk about. With the work on this game I am thinking about the future development of this game once all the fundamental issues have been ironed out. Future development would keep the interest of the fanbase of this game and would attract interest from both Tabletop gaming fans and new-comers to the warhammer franchise. Some of the best way to generate this interest is the releasing of new factions.

Currently there are only a total of 6 factions, 3 for each side.
Empire of Man, Dwarfs and High Elves for the Alliance of Order. Followers of Tzeentch, Greenskins and Dark Elves for the Realms of Destruction. This current line up is pretty much basic and was all what the original developers of the game were able to put in before the game was closed down, which has left many potential players who preferred other factions of the Lore to miss out. That is why I think when the current development team is ready to expand this game, the factions I think would fit the game story line will be listed and what I think their career classes should be.

Realms of Destruction

Skaven:
The ratmen who live in the sewers and the deepest of caverns throughout the entirety of the Old World always considered to be mere myths of old folklore save for the Dwarven miners of Karaz Ankor and mad ramblings of lunatics from the nations of men. Always dreaming and scheming for the day when they would emerge and enslave the surface dwellers once more.
The original developers were working on this very race for a never to be released expansion. So this would be the easiest new race to implement into the game, but I think some of the classes roster would need to be changed before the Skaven would be ready. I think the Rat Orge and Packmaster need to be replace with more suitable choices.
Tank: Warlord, Melee DPS: Gutter Runner, Ranged DPS: Warlock Engineer, Support: Plauge Priest

Beastmen:
The twisted half-men and half-animal offspring of Chaos, desire nothing more than to tear down the world of men to bring back the savage reign of the law of the wild where the strong savage and feast on the weak. These monsters are a constant thorn to civilized people throughout the world and now they are hearing the call of the Dark Gods for the Great Warherds to thunder once more.
Tank: Gorebull, Melee DPS: Bestigor, Ranged DPS: Ungor Raider, Support: Bray Shaman

Chaos Dwarves:
A forgotten army has made its return. This was a difficult choice for me as I really done some hard searching and thinking on what would be the best choices for classes.
Tank: Bull Centaur Taur’ruk, Melee DPS: Hobgoblin Cutthroat, Ranged DPS: Infernal Guard, Support: Daemonsmith Sorcerer

Host of the Everchosen:
The biggest gripe I had with Age of Reckoning is that Tzeentch was the only playable chaos power, meaning the other 3 chaos gods missed out. The best way I think the other aspects of Chaos can introduced to this game is to have them be part of their own faction separate from the Tzeentchian Raven Host, and the best way I think another Chaos Warrior faction can be release would be tied with the coming of Archaon the Everchosen, Lord of the End Times. Considering how huge on an impact this guy would have on the story, it is probably likely that the Host of the Everchosen would be the last faction to be ever released. Hopefully the developers of Return of Reckoning would do a better job than Games Workshop ever did.
Tank: Nurgle Champion, Melee DPS: Khorne Berserker, Ranged DPS: Undivided Cultist, Support: Slaneesh Sorcerer

Alliance of Order

Bretonnia:
One the fan favorites hasn't been treated kindly by Games Workshop lately. Firstly they did not get a proper update in their 8th edition army book, then the **** that was The End Times happen, then earlier this year Bretonnia and the Tomb Kings were completely squatted from the lore of Age of Sigmar. I really think Bretonnia deserves better treatment therefore I think they would be the most deserving to be the first new faction to joining the Alliance of Order. Who wouldn't want the chance to live out their fantasies of being the paragons of chivalry, slaying unholy beasts and repressing those annoying dirt poor peasants. Onwards for the King, the Lady and Glory!!!!
Tank: Grail Knight, Melee DPS: Questing Knight, Range DPS: Yeoman Archer, Support: Grail Damsel

Kislev:
Another sad example of Game Workshop negligence to interesting factions. Kislev only get official tabletop appearance on Mordiehem, Warmaster and 6th edition despite having one the most important roles in the entirety of the Old World of being the first line of defense against any major chaos invasion from the north. It is a good thing that warhammer fans have shown poor old Kislev the love it deserved most notably in the fan made 8th edition army book and this is one faction I really want to see in this game. I went searching throughout old official documents to avoiding fan made stuff as much as possible. Let's make Kislev stronk once again.
Tank: Druzhina (this is based on the Druzhina captain from the Moderheim specialist game so it is an offical unit), Melee DPS: Kossar Esaul, Ranged DPS: Ungol Horse Archer, Support: Ice Witch

Wood Elves:
Tank: Treeman, Melee DPS: Shadowdancer, Ranged DPS: Waystalker, Support: Spellsinger

Vampire Counts:
Tank: Wight King, Melee DPS: Vampire, Ranged DPS: Necrarch, Support: Necromancer

more races and classes will probably never see the light of day Im afraid. It will take ages before we are at a state of close to live when it comes to progression and features.

Adding more classes are more things to handle in a pure balance perspective as well as a tremendous task to make new models, animations and so on, ofc Im no dev but Im pretty sure they will just say a flat out no, not going to happen.

Yeh, there's yearsof development in bringing it in line with live, then years before all the bullshit of live is removed.

As much as I'd absolutely love wood elves, I much prefer first getting in line with live (capitals, working pve) and then fixing the **** (capitals, the pve :D).

I understand this a very low priority but it was an idea. It really sucks what Game Workshop had done with the franchise.

Well, Age of ****... err Sigmar generates more money than a complex, rich, living world with all its rights and wrongs. Cause Sigmarines sell better to 10 year old children than some obscure arthurian grail-knights. It´s a sad story really.

But i too support the idea, eventhough it will likely never see the servers.

Yeah there really is no justice in this world. If only there was a way for a paradox free backwards travelling time machine and take control of Games Workshop before the rot had settled how great would that be

this. whiel skaven/beastmen models are in game already, you will never see them because:
1)tons of scripting
2) thee devs must still unlock original content, let alone add land of the dead

Ok, we all agree we might not see it yet, or ever, for that matter but I like the idea's regardless:D

@Op gj on thinking it out at least, u never know when an idea might lead to. The fact that it might never occur should not stop us.

On that track have you thought about instead of adding to existing factions: how would you see a third faction in game and how would you implement these factions and which faction would it be.

Again: I know it might never occur but I am interested in what people think as I thought about this a lot myself.
Karak Norn characters: Wrench Crowbar (Engi) Valeika (WP) Camelea Belmont (WH) & Archmage (Well Archmage:-)

Current Characters:
Wrench Crowbar (waiting on my name to be free after my char got wiped, Engi)
Archmage (Same Story)
Valeika Belmont (WP)

In theory, third faction would bring a lot of good things to this game. Just start from the balance... You can take a look at Planetside and some other 3+ factions MMOS. When you have 3 factions fighting over multiple maps all over the world, there would be less global domination from one side and less roflstomping around.

I personally always imagine a third faction as a dark alliance between Vampire Counts, Undeads and Skavens or Vampires, Beastmen and Skavens. But, all of that would require A LOT of man power and thousands of working hours. New models, new animations, new abilities, new classes, new items... Given that we are still playing alpha and that there's just a handful of devs working on this we will most probably never see a 3rd faction.
