Identify the issue
2H weapons block strikethrough passive is considered fundamentally underwhelming especially when compared to the much more desirable and useful +10% parry bonus from duel wielding.
Explain why it is an issue
Duel wielding already holds noticeable advantages of 2H, to the extent that for both slayer and choppa its considered universally the better playstyle option even in parties, DW has the advantage of much faster AA and a good defensive bonus vs 2H which has only really the advantage of potentially bigger spike damage.
Therefore I want to propose a new bonus that would put the 2 passives on par while taking into consideration that 2H weapons are used by tanks as well
Propose a viable solution to the problem
Replace the passive bonus of +10% block strikethrough with a new passive:
+10% dodge and disrupt chance
It is a defensive bonus that is just as desirable as 10% parry for mdps classes while simultaneously potentially not overpowering the damage of various other 2h using classes such as White Lion while also benefiting 2H using tanks as one of the major factors for them is that by dropping their shields they lose a lot of utility such as HTL and subsequently become food for RDPS.

Re: Changing 2H weapons passive bonus
While we had a similar discussion several months (years?) ago, the proposal at that time was giving 2H a +10% parry strikethrough.

Love it. However -- I could see this being stronger for order than for destro. Specifically because the block strikethrough helps 2h BGs superpunt snb tanks. Same could be said for knight, but I'm not sure of how many knights run the superpunt tactic. Overall, I think it's a great, useful change, but trying to play devil's advocate.

I mean it also helps IBs punt snb tanks >.> I think almost every knight/chosen runs super punt. Havent met one without it, though Im sure now that I have said it, Mkatew or Mete or someone will show up and prove me wrong :pdansari wrote:Love it. I like the +10%dodge disrupt a lot. Block strikethrough is pretty lame, and only 2h tanks benefit from it really and only in some circumstances.

Re: Changing 2H weapons passive bonus
Really like it. Strikethrough on its own never seemed like an argument to pick 2h.
Nowadays people rarely roll 2h choppa/slayer setups and I got a feeling that removing the penalty from middle tree crit tactic didn't persuade anyone into trying it out.
The first thing you hear when someone asks in advice about 2h vs 2x1h for slayers and choppas is that the damage difference isn't that substantial but the parry defense part is big enough not to consider 2h. This should balance things out a bit and also indirectly help these two classes who aren't in their best shape IMO.
Might also help fixing the rdps domination in T4 in general without any major revamping.

Re: Changing 2H weapons passive bonus
Hm quick thought: would this help or hurt slayer? Yes, 10% less damage from ranged but White Lions also get this now and theyre already preferred against rdps due to pounce/fetch/ensnare

Re: Changing 2H weapons passive bonus
For years I have been saying 2H needs to be reworked. Frankly... This is BETTER than blockstrike through but am I allowed to voice my opinion that I think this should be swapped with DW?
DW should have dodge/disrupt
2H should have Parry.
Why? many reasons, it is easier to "dodge" with DW - thats the entire fighting style. You actually cannot parry well when dual wielding (fact IRL).
What is the "defensive" mechanic for 2H? Its to Parry a hit. Your sword IS your shield. You dont "dodge" with a 2H, its too massive and clunky. You parry.
Also, from a tank perspective, this would AID in the 2H tank issue - where they have a hard time stacking enough parry for "guard damage mitigation". Where as Melee DPS suffer MORE from "range disadvantage" - which giving MDPS "dodge/disrupt" would alleviate the "Ranged" meta we find ourselves in...
So from an overall balance proposal. And I realize this is controversial and many will disagree with all that I have said. I would advocate for:
DW = 10% dodge/disrupt (or maybe a 5%/5%)
2H = 10% Parry chance
I believe this more accurately aligns with fighting styles, realism, and balance.
