Re: no cross faction chat
Nothing wrong with a little chit chat, feels like you're making a big deal out of nothing

This. Theres far more than we had in t1 on live. I never saw people poncing around chatting in orvr though.Nishka wrote:

If its red it dead. Not give them a reach around. Theres a reason orvr games don't have xchat, swtors did and it just became trolls and butthurts and then you had those that wouldn't fight the friend they made on the other side. Better to communicate with /spit /puke /laugh rvr needs animosity not ponies.

Re: no cross faction chat
There was a fight that lasted freakin forever .. and both groups had just given up. Zealot forever healing, RP forever healing ... neither side getting anywhere. Both sides withdrew and had an amicable discussion over class comparisons. Then, we fought again.. because, that's what we do!
Nothing wrong with that .. especially in an alpha server. Sheesh.. relax will ya??

Re: no cross faction chat
Remove cross-faction chat? If you really want to do it, wait until LotD is added.
Dying is no option.
Re: no cross faction chat
My cross-faction chat experience is half of the time it's nice chit-chat about game, life and endless unvierse, while the other half it's someone who is deeply hurt being killed calling you names and bringing on 1000 facts how will he own you just IF...
I'd gladly avoid the second part, which is much more prevalent during EU nights.

Re: no cross faction chat
There will still be plenty of chat. Just not with the enemy. You kill the enemy. Thats what makes war unique over all the carebear mmos.

Re: no cross faction chat
Disabling cross-faction chat is a config option in the XML, so it's not difficult to do. I think the real trouble is convincing anyone it's a good idea at this point in the alpha.

Re: no cross faction chat
just saying what i think. People here have absolutely no right to hold you (the Staff of RoR) accountable for any of your decisions. if you think its a good idea to keep the chat, then do so. if you dont, then simply remove it. i am sure that except a handful of ppl (who gonna complain about anything anyway) , most people will agree with your decisions...Azarael wrote:Disabling cross-faction chat is a config option in the XML, so it's not difficult to do. and if youre not sure how to handle stuff like that, simply put up a vote ?
Re: no cross faction chat
Theres a reason that people played a dead game until the end. It was unique. No other game had orvr like war. One of the reasons was people didn't stand around chatting with the enemy like chums.
You make the dividing line between the factions much less clear and orvr far more of a laid back social experience. It will turn the game into something else. The more defined structured pvp of scenarios where sides are far more clear will become the accepted pvp area and orvr will become a place for dueling and socializing instead of what it was in live. An area that where you enter the enemy can and will see you as such not a buddy.
At uni in my halls we had alot of game designers. I sat in quite a few lectures with some of them. One thing I learnt players are idiots. You have to lay down identifiable game structure that force them to play the correct way or they are incapable. You need definitive walls between the factions thats why live had no xchat.
