Better not. Use the willpower tactic if you lack willpower.

So what should I be going for with renown points?

250ish initiative and about 0% chance to get crit is a good start, but kinda hard to achieve with for example full conq. So you can experiment with initiative and futile strikes, and healcrit is the best stat to raise for more healing.
