Ability effect comparison

Hi everyone,

Can someone kindly advise whether my understanding of the ability effect between Gloom of Night(GoN) and Shadow Knives(SN) are they correct?
GoN: One-time effect centered on a target within 80ft of caster. For duration of 15sec of the one time effect, any enemies with 20ft of the target, including the target, takes damage.

SN: A channeling spell that creates a cloud lasting for 6sec that is centered on a target within 80ft of caster. Damages any enemy within 20ft of that target. After initial 6sec expires, if the target stays within 80ft range of caster, the ability is renewed again and the 6sec cycle repeats again as long within range, sufficient caster AP and no disruption.

Is my understanding of the difference between the TWO ability correct? Please advice. Thanks..

uh wot

GoN: you cast a "damage over time" /dot to your target. when the dot hits every 3? seconds, it will also damage all enemies standing nearby (aoe cap 9 targets) minor 300?ish dmg hits (good for getting rid of tank challenges)

Shadow Knives: you CHANNEL (active spell cast progress) your target within the range, and the target takes dmg every few second + other enemies nearby take dmg from the SK that is being channeled on the target. After the channel ends, you have a long cooldown before you can channel SK again. The ability is not renewed. Imagine that it is like Pit of Shades, except instead of targeting a ground area the dmg is done on the target + people around target (aoe cap of 9) [good ability for ranged bombing + ranged pressure, as well for sniping deathblows]
