Still requires at least two gcds and lucky proc and speccing into resist debuff tree wich reduces dmg output. So yeah, "30% flat dmg buff" lol

that applies to any class wich need to spec for a armour debuff , why sm gonna be different. U know that kind of concern was one the reasons Black orc corp dmg attacks where erased and turned standard , at same time of nerfing wot armour .

Really didn't mean to derail the thread - But I am just repeating what I was told by the guy who did the changes. I'm not flaming a class that I think is extremely good and does a few things that I think are moderately out of balance mostly because I play a DD DoK.... BUT ANYWAY - If Aza said it, I'm gonna take his word for it. I don't think it is gamebreaking as it has been around for a while, it was just a simple fact I was stating in the list of order classes have been pretty buffed up and destro classes just get nerfed and nerfed and nerfed lol. Maybe they were super broken to begin with, who knows.

I only mentioned it because this Choppa looks like it is on the level of a WL in regards to killing people. It'd be pretty sweet is the main MDPS's in the game were scary again.

Its 1 GCD. And a lucky proc is no problem on single target when you have so many attacks that hit twice in a GCD. But I have no problem with it stacking tbh. Spreading out heavens blade is one of the main things SM do that gives them a warband slot as it stacks with Kotbs. It becomes slighty busted in small scale tho

But wrath of Hoeth isn't a double attack like Crashing Wave or Whispering Wind (but it is AOE). It's a 25% to proc the blade enchant (which many groups don't run anyway since the stat steal is superior).

I and GateKeeper were in the Inquisitors vent along with Azareal about a year ago and I can't remember what other dev he was speaking with;

We were discussing overall class balance because Gate and I were pretty new, he played on live a bit but I never did - and he stated that he gave SM's a 30% damage buff across the board. 1. When Aza talked with another developer about development, there is a high chance that it was about his own local dev server. I was often on this server during the ability/tactics coding process and he tried all kinds of stuff for classes, for instance the SM AoE knockback had an additional fiendly-pounce component for a while there, because mythic planned something like that for patch 1.4.9.
2. He didn't do any changes to the SM "because it was his main class"; the BO/SM knockdown rearrangement in the middle path was done after a balance discussion and the weird exceptions of the class are implemented as they were done by mythic on their servers (e.g. weird DoT tactic exceptions or "heavens blade" debuff stacking behaviour). He also played his SM in tank-mode (focus on protecting group members), not in tunnel vision lol-DPS mode when we were grouped.
3. I know that Aza was unhappy about the situation of the class as a "semi-DD", because every attempt to give the SM tools to better fit the tanking role in PvP is blocked by the community with "no, class has too much damage".
4. The ability tooltips can't be changed atm and a 30% damage increase on every SM ability would have been noticed by many, many people.
5. I just compared the SM ability "ensorcelled blow" and the IB ability "heavy blow" with their old WAR-DB career builder values and both show roughly the same percentage variance on a char without armor/jewelry; no 30% increase on the SM ability as far as i can tell. This is no 100% evidence, but i won't bother other staff members to check the code because of some weird rumor (they wouldn't do it anyway).

This was high likely a misunderstanding.

Dont negate resolute defense and cleansing winds.
Rd for catching kiters where without it you will be an easy meal and Cw for times when you have a bunch of dots on you that will slowly drain your health down until you are dead.

Personally for solo i would spec Rd x2, Cw x1, slot wounds talis and pump any left over renown points into crit and str if you are not capped alrdy, wouldnt bother to much with ws or parry unless you are running a full parry build with riposte which is a pretty decent spec for fighting tanks and a waste when not fighting melee.
You are gona need to be very dependant on pot use and may find that kiting at the start of an encounter v melee classes may help so you can pop dat tickles.

As for the SM debate, not sure what the stacking rules are with woe and heavens blade stacking with other stuff, if woe stacks with other resist debuffs then i would says its a tad over the top, if its heavens blade that stacks with other resist debuffs then i think its fair as you lose stat steal or the absorb if you happen to run super absorb spec.

It's the sword enchantment and it would be useless otherwise; nevertheless i'm no fan of it because it's lame game design by mythic. My guess is that it is some remnant from a time when the game was full of strange abilities (75% armor debuffs instead of fixed values). They should have changed it to a different and otherwise useful effect earlier, not in 1.4.9.

Wrath of Hoeth and the Heaven's Blade Enchantment do stack. The blade enchant is a resist debuff to all resists. WoH is a spirit resist. Heaven's Blade does not stack with knight resist aura, for example.
