One beautiful day I was roaming with our 6 man Deep and Dry (Dark Omen) on Destruction in Thunder Mountain we were trying to get as many kills and/or objectives as possible and be top contribution. Niky's 6 man and Legion of Boom (Twelve Inches Unbuffed) were also roaming in the zone looking to get the bags. Who came top 24? The entire Phalanx warband without a sign of the above 6-mans in there. If you actually have a strong co-ordinated warband that is capable of farming the enemy when outnumbered you will be able to get contribution. Of course sometimes there are more opportunities for a 6-man, other times there are more opportunities for larger groups and on different days it might just be one giant blob against one giant blob and such stuff won't matter much. The point is, you can come top contribution solo, in a group or in a warband, you just need to do well and better than the other people in the zone given your starting conditions (eg.: solo kills give more contrib than a party kill).Aurandilaz wrote:Ah, but the game doesn't currently reward warbands that form the needed force to cap a zone, the contribution mechanic very heavily favours 6mans who essentially just do as much killing as possible (and since only complete kills count, best to focus in easy targets to maximize renown gain, which then maximizes contribution - which is heavily dependant on how much renown you earn)Kragg wrote:You say groups. Not warbands? You have to remember, Teefz and Nicelook and solo'ers in general, pray on other solo'ers and duos and lower standard players to get easy medalions, the solution, build better groups.
Do they trouble groups, like yours and mine, nope, in their 6 man, sure because they play range dps in RvR but others like us could do the same in our small groups, pass on everything to one player, play one class, be high renown rank already and have a bucket load of play time.
Again, how would you change the contribution so tanks and healers would have an increased chance while solo? Is this not further pushing the game into solo supportive?
Which is somewhat interesting in a sad way; the WB carries the zone but the efficient pugfarming premades has usually the dibs on the loot.
Obviously the premades that focus on maximizing kills need to be rewarded for their efforts, but the question is, how can pugs even compete?

Create open WB, coordinate it, kick some strange ppl xD, lock zone = profit.
If you are too lazy to make a party or warband. So you do not want much.

Re: Can We Talk About Loot Rolls?
I think alot of the problem stems from lack of conqueror emblems on a zone take. Nobody batted an eye when we were recieving officers from zone takes and bags, because people were rewarded with a chunk of emblems for their contribution.
Right now you only get them from bags or from killing blows which is killing alot of peoples motivation as overall its a gamble with layered RNG. But when we get rewarded on zone lock with conq emblems, we'll know for certain we'll be rewarded, no rng, efforts werent in vein. Thats what people want.
When the devs eventually evaluate the level people are getting conq emblems, allow the breaking down/up of emblems like they did with officers and rewarding them on zone lock. I'm sure these complaints will eventually subside.

The topic of discussion was centered around currency rolls being seemingly off. If a round robin type of system can be implemented, then that would assuage me. If it can't yet, then I'll continue to pray to rngesus.

@Danielle
Even pug warbands can get bags, when I was leading that wb I even get gold bag the only one I get till now. I don't know all players in pug wb but I have seen many times that Ocara and Gdy that lead many times pug wb gets bags, so in pug wb it's also possible. My friend from guild won gold bag twice while i was leading pug wb.
@Osred
End game should be hard to get best gear.
What I think is that we should have fair and logic system when your efforts to take keep are rewarded. Not like now when you try hard and you know that because of contribution you see and at roll game spit you in face.

Re: Can We Talk About Loot Rolls?
The problem with the current, and an even more contribution heavy system is that all the casuals, you know, most of the population, those who only have a couple of hours playtime every other evening, can only dream of getting anything but green bags. I'd actually vote for the old system. (Being one of the casuals)

Re: Can We Talk About Loot Rolls?
Just to point out to casuals, as long as you did enough contribution you will still be in the roll even if you are logged out when the zone is taken. And if you win bag it will be in your mailbox when u log back in.
The thing is when 200 people in the zone and about 10 bags given, you have like 5% chance or less to win
. Ok to be fair contribution helps which in itself is little bugged how the RvR counts contribution what you have done.

Even after spending 2-3 hours in a zone, actively participating in everything possible (keep taking, BO capture and recapture, skirmish fights etc), I've never experienced getting more than a +50 contribution roll.
And rewarding warbandleaders extra (if that's the case) also seem like an ill-thought idea - as it's often the same five guys, who do that (plus it also limits those who are not fluent in english from doing the same). Being in a succesfull warband should be reward enough - for all in it.

Re: Can We Talk About Loot Rolls?
I'd like to see the number of bags rewarded for a lock being proportional to how difficult it was to lock the zone.
Prime time, 2000 kills in zone, 8 hours of struggle = 6 gold bags
4am with only 100 people online, 100 kills in zone, 1 hour fast zerg of uncontested zone = 2 gold bags

Re: Can We Talk About Loot Rolls?
it''s already proportional
easy lock, 0 gold, maybe 1 purple
challenge: 1 gold, maybe 1-2 purples
actual fight: 2 gold 2 purple etc
