New gear kills the game

some players just gave up on beastlord...those same players are geting killed under 2 secs by old school WLs players with 4 beastlord/3 conq.

just tell those poor newbies getting farmed to do what you do. Get a six man and go hunt the solo WL down with your group. Hell, you could probably find some form of radar hack to make your job easier and know exactly where he's at. Show that dirty beastlord/conq WL that when it's 6v1... you freaking OWN.

I've personally seen it myself when you fight someone 6v1. I gotta say, you're pretty damn good in those fights. I don't know how you do it... but hats off to you. Personally, if i had five other people with me and just a solo Mara in the zone wearing beastlord/conq... no damn way i'm going near him. Maybe if had 11 others with me... maybe. But just five? no. not a chance. Keep showing us the way Krima... talent overwhelming.

I get that gw2 with no gear progression can be offputting to some, but the pendulum doesn't have to be completely in the other direction either.

Gear progression that adds marginal stat advantage would achieve the carrot that people crave without killing the fragile balance that inherently barely exists in games like this.

No. Don't forget the principle underlying this game and the others like it. They don't have good enough gameplay to hold interest by themselves, they are dependent on valuable rewards to fight over. If you remove those rewards, make them easy to acquire or push their desirability below a certain threshold, people leave the game because there's nothing they want to farm, so you have to introduce or restart the gear cycle. If, conversely, those rewards are constant and desirable (to WHATEVER EXTENT) and cannot be acquired with ease, you will see players running the most efficient compositions for the sake of rewards.

As is a recurring theme with this design in particular and this Godforsaken genre in general, it's a case of being stuck between a rock and a hard place. Do you want a dead game? Or do you want FOTM garbage?

I think it'd be better if people stopped caring about balance and FOTM in general. Let's get real for a second - this is a niche game in a weak genre dominated by the titan that is World of Warcraft. Its gameplay isn't worthy of perfect balance. Play what the hell you want and let others do the same. I thought Telen of all people understood the futility of giving a damn about things like this.

Until they can get fortresses, Lotd, pve instances or city sieges working they've really hit a wall in terms of ingame content.

I imagine Conqueror was only added to give us something to grind for/occupied. Essentially a bandaid fix to stop the falling player numbers.

A necessary evil at the moment.

first - what is wl+NB Kill stealing. i'm not aware of this term.

second - have you tried roaming the lakes on WL solo? give it a shot. For sure you can get kills... but it's not the picnic walk you may like to believe it to be. Lots of fanbois out in the lakes.

Maybe Destro has learned to focus on the most deadly enemy dps in the lakes; meaning target priority is very often the WL because the risk of letting them deal out damage undisturbed can be fatal. After enough people have been roflstomped in 1v1 by WLs, they savour every moment that they can to hunt down every single WL, even if it means 6v1 or 24v1. And it's always worth it.
Stomp people in 1v1 because your class happens to be currently FOTM and top grade mdps; - prepare to get stomped back because your victims don't forget.

it's a Wl+NerfButton(NooButtons)+roam solo+steal kills.No shots cuz if you wanna just steal the kills you are not truly hired in the fight =D
