If anyone is playing to get RR80 and full set of gear he should immediatelly quit and go play WoW.

I play to have fun and crush my enemies regardless of RR and gear.

One POTENTIAL way to do this (that might not go over well) is to do a RR "reset" back to 40 each season. (easy for me to say as I am only 42 LOL). But then you could track a leaderboard based on highest RR each "season" and give rewards to the top guys etc. If you ran a "season" for say 2 months, it would give you some time to create some cool "item" during that time to hand out to the top 20 players on each side or something.

If we are going to have RR resets every season let us know please so I can stop playing right now seriously.

I don't understand what's the problem with people getting to 80? only a few hardcore (and they will always get to 80/max first)
players will have several rr80 toons, on live I had 1 rr80 and only played another class which i got to 60 yet I still played my main 80% of the time, here the fear is that people will stop playing once they get their gear/RR , I disagree while I would play another character I will still play my main that I work so hard for most of the time.

I asked in another thread if after the renown compression if there was going to be a cap or can we go to rr80 ? what about a year or so from now more RR compression/wipes? I have 2 characters at rr50 now and was going to decide which one to 80 first but with this compression coming I'm now going to work on a rr40 while we wait but we would like an official statement

This is the sort of thing we're expected to reply to and take seriously? Maybe you haven't read the basic rules for the server.

If you can't handle the contents of those two posts, then yes, you should probably leave. On that note, thegatekeeper is not a member of staff, nor does he have any hand in guiding development of the game. Perhaps take a bit more lightly the suggestions that your fellow players come up with in the future.

Renown compression is something majority of people who are playing only for the ranks care about as they will like to see people who invested time, be put down to their level.

Essentially, its balance between losing those few high RR players who will rage quit, and keeping jelly kids happy and play more.

These days, those jelly kids are majority, hence this decision is good for the server and helps more jelly kids assemble.

Cheers!

Yes, I am not a staff and I like to "shotgun" thoughts here on the forums in hopes that maybe 1 will be good and strike a cord with the DEV team.

As I said above, it was merely 1 suggestion and I dont see it a whole lot different from renown compression. That said, my concern is the "uphill" battle that exists. You guys release new gear, everyone whines about how it takes too many emblems or whatever, then a few weeks later they have it all and then want new gear etc... A constant "gear release" cycle.

RR is a better "goal" considering many will never hit RR80, however... I think BOTH of these are good carrots, but I just look at "sustainable" PVP models and they almost all seem to be moving towards a "season" route. Where progress is "reset" and rewards are gained based on how well/how much you do etc.

Thinking back to when RR40 was the max. I hit that, I got my 5/5 gear and my weapon and I had it all. Started playing an alt, etc. But just kinda felt like there wasnt much left to do.

Thats where I think something you MAY want to consider when you do this "renown compression" is an alternative system... If possible. Where you do the compression, and then announce that these "compressions" will happen every X months or X weeks and renown will be a sort of leaderboards. Just (again) ONE idea...

Chewing on this "larger than the battles themselves" and considering I have NO clue the direction you guys want to take.... What would appeal to ME would be some type of "resource" earned on both factions. Just for the sake of illustration ill assign numbers.

SCs would grant your faction whatever # you earned. So if the game was 500-200. Destro faction gets 500 "resource" and Order gets 200.

Keep takes would generate like 50,000 "resource" or something.

This way, someone does 20 SCs, does 2 keep takes and feels like they participated in the "faction war" since they can log into the forums and check the "war status" showing cumulative "resource" being generated via their efforts.

At the end of the season, you set up a weekend event in which whatever side wins gets a chance to invade the enemies city or whatever...

Again, just throwing out ideas. But this idea creates a "larger than the battles" sense that everything you do in game matters. Heck even quitting an SC loses your faction points, etc.... Gives reason to play more than just "your own character progression".

Great ideas there gatekeeper. I mostly agree, but I would rather not touch RR as it's a leveling system and create a new entity like Honor which could be used for reset.

And then the faction wide resource like you suggested would top it off the charts.

season = grind
when game's end contents are easy to achieve and nothing left to do,
plus if they can't offer new end contents anymore, then they chose this path.
repeat their small same contents over and over.

I don't think RoR is fit in that category.
end contents are not easy, nor rvr is same repeat.
well, little bit of grind but have a lot of dynamics
it's PvP, different every time
