Killing blow rewarded in RvR

Hi
In the recent introduction of conqueror medallions in open rvr killing blows was introduced as a reward mechanism by which a group could roll on the drop of conqueror medallions . I believe that this mechanism is upsetting the balance between DPS, Healing and tank classes.
To achieve a killing blow burst damage is a huge bonus, this is typically a dps trait and healers and tanks do not have burst damage, they have burst heal and interrupt damage skills. The result is that damage based classes have a much higher probability getting to roll on said medallions. This will/is causing a mismatch is gear between dps classes and other classes. I believe that if this mechanism stays as is then the gap between classes and gear will cause significant imbalance in the game above and beyond the balance between the classes abilities.

Agree wit u on a couple of points.. like imbalance dps heal wise but do know goes for both side. . In the end conq is prob in total a 5 ÷increase. . Also in the end this is a teamplay game. Atm ALOT People mainly rdps and dps run 2 man groups or killsteal and profit of the big warbands. U can have strong dps but when ya tank and heals are weak. U Will fall nonetheless. . Maybe try and team up wit People get to know em and pass on medals and do gear by gear and switch after every piece. ..

Can you imagine if they based contribution on most tanking and healing, i swear, we'd see a massive influx of tanks and healers in RVR, or perhaps doks and wp haha

FYI

I took the easy route, game makes me sad cos of this so I don't play much now. Awaiting some change to this as I like shiny things too much. But as you said I have seen a number of posts where organized groups to themselves hand out trinkets to their healers and tanks cos of this

This is not a thread about contribution or RNG, that has manny threads of its own , it really does not need more. And also note devs have shown actions on RNG impact and done some adjustments to contribution even if it's still a dark art knowing what counts and what does not
Lets try keep to the point of killing blows being used in rvr

I don't understand.

No matter who lands the DB on someone, the roll of the medallion goes to the group that scored the deathblow (unless I'm very much mistaken), every group will have at least 1-2+ DPS for the burst you need to kill stuff.

The problem is that the death blow mechanic supports kill stealing from solo dps or dps heavy wb. Structured wb with healers and tanks and dps are put at a disadvantage as dps heavy grops can easily steal kills so boasting reward to dps .
Only thing that counts for the drop is the final blow not the effort to get them close to death

True, it does favour classes that excel at 1v1 but people should be moving as a group in the RvR lake to avoid that exact situation. And a DPS heavy WB can just as easily be wiped if they don't have a balanced layout and run into a WB that has better sustainability. If it is WB vs WB then it's just a zerg fest anyway, I wouldn't expect to be getting medallions when there's damaging flying all over the place.

To a degree I agree but reality is in my opinion the introduction of the killing blow mechanism into rvr goes against the stated balance model. Azarel (excuse probable spelling error) stated balance is not 1v1 or party v party however the killing blow is now moving reward directly in this direction and away from the discussion of utility etc
