A Question on Protocol Please

My question is based on the detailed in game encounter. For the record please know I am not complaining about anything. I am not mad about anything or annoyed or upset or anything else. My question is based solely on the fact I don't know the answer. Also for the record I did look around the forum for an answer prior to posting this, I just didn't find one. Doesn't mean it isn't there, just means I didn't find it.

A couple of days ago I was waiting at the lair location for the DW dragon boss. The boss was active and I was just waiting for the other members of the party to arrive. I was also waiting to see if any Destruction guys zoned in for the obvious reason of warning my team.

Before anyone else arrived I saw a DOK begin to zone in. I could see his name was in orange, which indicates a player is in transition either from the initial log-in screen or from an SC. So I moved to intercept and punt him from the ledge as soon as he became flagged for RvR.

When he became flagged for RvR I had him targeted but none of my attacks would function. Then I noticed he had a DEV tag on his name. He said attacking him wouldn't be a good idea, I said "sorry" and backed off. Then a few moments later he zoned out.

My sense of this is formed by two conditions. First, I assume the DEVS play this game at times just like the rest of us. However I also assume they may have certain characters which are DEV specific, meaning that when they log on with one of those characters marked with the DEV icon they are doing DEV stuff. My experience with GM characters is they can't be targeted unless they want to be, therefore again I assume the same is probably true for the DEVS.

All of that is fine. I am happy to have the DEVS in game and from the very moment I first logged here I have been grateful and appreciative for their efforts. I just want to know the protocol. If I am in an RvR zone running solo, which I often do, and I see a Destruction player flagged for RvR but has a DEV icon, what is the protocol? Are they fair game as would be any other Destruction player, or should I ignore them and ride on?

Thanks again for your efforts here and for your time in responding.

Generally speaking if the GM/Dev dont want to get hit they can trigger a mode to not be attackable.

Apart from the obvious part about follow the direction of staff they are fair game, in fact we dont have any dev/gm specific characters and yes we do enjoy the game just as the players do but sometimes we have to act ingame in ways a normal player cannot and then you might see a tag come flashing :P

If you see me with my Dev tag on and I AM attackable then you should do your best to kill me since I deserve it for not remembering to make myself un-attackable :p

Never hit a dev, unless it's Torque or Aza.
Zoggof - Black Orc
Doinks - Ironbreaker
Leatherman - Blackguard
