Video to promote the server

Hello guys,

I'm just posting to know if people would be interested in doing a flavored wow like video to do some kind of presentation of each classes.

for those that dont know : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoHey6rGnkc

So yeah some kind of video like that maybe a bit longer with some more gameplay video and just a voice of the player saying a funny presentation or something like that.

Just an idea, and i'm clearly not the best video maker out there but i could try to do something if people are inclined to help.

Do you guys find that to be a good idea or just a crap waste of time ? :p

well this kind of promotion is not bad, but I doubt anyone on the staff has time, knowledge or interest in making something like that.

EDIT: this does ofc not mean that any member of our community should not have a stab at it :P

I think its a great idea! I play primarily during NA hours, which tends to be a little slower than EU hours, and lots of our NA player base found out about the server from random youtube vids that our community has posted so its clearly a good recruiting tool, particularly for the NA crowd for some reason. I've been hoping for a while now that someone might take the initiative to start making more highly-visible videos to help promote the server so I am all for this idea although I def do not have enough spare time to personally help with it (sorry).

Take a moment to check out some of the videos that our players have already posted and linked here on the boards, you might find that those folks would be interested in working with you.

I think anyone searching for "warhammer online" is going to find this server, most videos I run into on YT have the server mentioned in the comments.

If you wanted to reach out to more people you need to get a plug about the server reaching people who would never search for "warhammer online", but would still be interested in playing this type of game.

That means getting already popular youtubers, twitch streamers with a fanbase to cover the server or play. Or to advertise on higher traffic gaming sites/sub-forums like reddit or 4chan's /v/-/vg/. Or reaching out to gaming news sites to possibly do a story/article on the server.

I've done a fair share of shilling for the server on /v/, and even had a semi successful general going for a few months on /vg/. But it amazes me how many people just aren't interested in playing. For what is a essentially a F2P mmo it doesn't seem to generate as much interest as you would think. The roadblock of t2-3, and totalarian rules wash some people out... but it doesn't explain the total non-interest.

This bums me out a little because t2/3 is hardly a roadblock anymore and the rules...those are in place because at some point someone did something that made each rule necessary :/ I've played on private servers that didn't have strict rules and it was never fun because people could just do whatever they wanted and it ruined it. I would hope that only toxic people would be deterred by the rules; if decent people are getting turned off by it before even playing, that makes me wonder if they're getting told some kind of sob story from someone who got themselves banned ;) The rules here aren't extreme, the main theme is common sense and basic mutual respect, who doesn't like those things?

The t2-3 roadblock comes from personal experience with friends, and people coming to the game fresh from the /vg/ threads. Most of that experience in in NA, so it's a lot more dead than EU times. if PvP is really slow or dead the only thing left is the extremely boring PvE so I see people just losing interest and stop playing if they dont get pled.

About the rules, it's just a culture shock some people can't handle. I'm not saying it's necessarily a bad thing, but a lot of people have problems dealing with authority in real life... let alone a video game lol. I'd also say that some GM's do tend to bait people to do things that can reprimand them for, sometimes the power goes to their heads for sure but thats not something exclusive to this server.
Spoiler:
Hopefully this doesn't derail the thread completely, if you want PM me I'm not gonna respond to further posts about staff/rules in here

Can always try to bring the Bitterstone channel under their attention. We often get people who join the game and lookign for us due to those.

Actually I had an idea for just such a video, one which would take volunteers from the community to make but would, I believe, help promote the game. Which is the core reason for the videos I post anyway. I may post the details in the media forum.

If you come up with a specific idea I would be willing to help if possible.

The T2/T3 roadblock is very real for NA players. We had an awesome choppa in our guild who is an NA player, but he just doesn't play anymore. One day he randomly came online to see what's going on because he was bored. Then he asked if the leveling system was still in the game, and we all were like 'what??'. He actually made a great point imo.

So he wants to bring his friends into the game, but the problem is that leveling is just so **** boring, lets be real here. Also, this is a dead MMO, period, and having to spend so much time just leveling up to get to that sweet T4 action is simply too much for people it seems. The only character I have in T4 is my BO, cuz I just don't want to waste so much time leveling all my alts. I know that you will say that it actaully doesn't take so much time, but it actually does. I don't want to spend a whole week on super boring leveling, only to be such low lvl rr that it would be painful in T4. Of course you can grind with PLing, but again, that system is insanely BORING for everyone included.

Now, I don't know how many friends he wanted to bring, but it must have been a decent amount, because he said that it would be a pain to level every single one of them. And it's true, it really is a pain, for no apparent reason.

I don't know what it is about NA players, but it seems they just want instant action. And you don't get that on this server. Of course, I'm not saying that everyone should be rank 40 as soon as they start playing, but something has to change. So seeing these new fixes for PQs is a great improvement! It's probably not that the leveling process is long, but that it's excruciatingly boring. So again, fixing all those PQs and quests is a step in right direction that should bring more people to the game.

As far as videos go, yea you need someone with a decent following. Maybe someone who would do a Let's play series or I don't know what. So it has to be a series of videos, not just a single one. The warhammer universe has a pretty big following, but what I think is the problem with this game, is that it's not your run of the mill MMO. The pvp is a very big focus, so some, if not a majority of MMO players will instantly feel more distanced from it. And all those bugged PQs and quests are not helping.

In the end, I just think we should give it time. When the majority of pve is working (especialy dungeons!), I'm sure we will see a great increase in population. Untill then, well keep making your videos, all of those who are making them :)
