Leveling from Lv1 {Help}

So I just recently started playing and I do like the game alot, but I have had trouble leveling up my character. I started as a Witch Elf on the chaos side and I've gotten to lv 8, and I have done all the quests given to me so far, but I'm now being given quests that have me fight enemies at a higher level and I'm dying very quickly.

I'm not sure if this has something to do with my gear (I equip what I get) or if I'm not taking advantage of the public quests enough (its a bit hard when nobody else is around), but I could use some help to get me set.

Try grouping up alongside other players for both PQs and oRvR. Queue scenarios at the same time and enjoy the journey.
