Stuck on loading (book) screen and /stuck doesn't help

Hey guys,

I've played WAR on live servers year ago right after its launch date. I loved the game but decaying popularity and friends leaving the title made me quit. Recently, I've been looking for a game to recapture that great feeling of being a dwarfy dwarf and the only real idea being this server. Made me super happy to try the game again.

Now here is the thing, Peopole have posted about it before, but I just can't get the game to lanuch fully. I have everything downloaded and have gone through sticky threads. I did try /stuck and /stuck x2, however I am only now starting the game with my vanilla lvl 1 dwarf. Just can't get past the darn book.

The intertesting thing is that when I use /stuck x2 I get back to the character seletion screen and when attempting to launch the game again, I can hear the background noises (oh, the nostalgia!) the music, birds etc., but still the damn book persists.

Any help will be appreciated, thx in advance guys!

EDIT 1: I can refer to the following post: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=16529&p=181515&hilit=book#p181515 where in the end there was no response - similiar situations, 1st char on server unable to log in. Also tried different chars/factions to no success.

EDIT 2: Messing with graphics doesn't seem to work either.

So here is the solution for future refference - if you download the game via an english mirror in a .zip file, it is not going to work. Do not use other sources other than the torrent on the main site. As simple as that - the other files are corrupted and thus, make you unable to start ur game.

Are you in a guild? If so, try leaving the guild or ask for a kick from the guild if you can't login at all. And see if that solves the problem. We had the same problem in Nazgul guild, I kicked all guildies and made a new Nazgûl guild and since then we didn't have had any login problems at all.

I haven't even started the game, you see. That is the point, it has nothing to do with the in-game issues, because I never WAS in-game.
