Re: Bringing Back Deleted/Removed Abilities

Yes, most of them were removed, but there are still some remnants of several of those abilities in the current client- and there's a chance that even more of the abilities would be in the original client. Heck, there are still remnants of the Hammer on the client.

The Shaman, Engineer, and Magus were really the only ones that were hit hard by all the changes and removed abilities- and the Disciple and Warrior to a lesser extent....but until the get greater client control I'm not going to bother writing any proposals for the Magus and Engineer. The Shaman is the only one I bothered with because it's an easy fix...

Here are some of the icons that are still in 1.4.8
Image Get'n Smarter (constantly petitioning to bring it back)
Image Naptime
Image Older Squig Armor
Image Melee Squig Ability? Spin 'n Slash?
Image Theft of Words
Image Waaagh! is Heal?

I don't have the original client so I can't try poking around a bit- unless someone decides to upload it's unlikely that I'd get my hands on one. Links online are dead... I also can't check any significant files as I don't exactly have the know-how or the tech.
Still, it's fun poking around.

*most are Shaman or Squig abilities- as those careers have been around the longest.

Dont get too excited, just myself playing around on the dev server ;) Someone go find the beta client.....

I've been trying for the past three days. All the torrents are dead and rapidshare is a thing of the past.
Did you find anything in the original client- I can get a hold of that one and upload it.

**and videos please. :)

edit: the picture didn't load on my other browser- azarael mentioned it was still on the client- I thought you might've found one of the other ones. still nice though

I been spending 3 days too , but cannot find any active link for beta client . I think we need to make an announcement in every language on forum to ask if someone still have it . That's our best chance . I can help in French if needed

The collector's edition is the one right after beta ended so it's possible it might still have some abilities- it's better than nothing... I know the Magus'/Engineer's daemon/turret heal (needed now more than ever) will be there and the Disciple's/Warrior's...
The Magus and Engineer will be altered again later on so....have to wait and see.

Torq seems open to experimenting with those abilities if they're still there though.

I think the dwarf (mine) knock back tactic as well as their silence (not really needed now that they have 188ft range,) the Magus' heal (not the wounds buff), and the code for Indigo Fire Of Change's original effect (Victims killed while bathed in this flame will become an uncontrolled Horror, mindlessly attacking their former allies for 30 seconds) (that effect is amazing) might still be in 1.4.8... Only the devs can confirm it. I'm just seeing pieces here and there.

It's still fun poking around and seeing what pops up.

That stuff is from alpha. Long gone. Back when there were sets of racial and career morals for you to choose from- instead of the generic set they give you.
A few of them were redistributed or changed to abilities...the others won't be in any client...

I'll upload édition collector client Then , any idea where I can upload it to share it here ?

I think range buff was a good idea since engi / magus was underpowered class , but we can think about new abilities to unnerf those class ( oil grenade as kb zone / pepper bomb as silence ability ) could make the class more attractive . I'm open to purpose new builds with old abilities for engineer .

Extra range buff could be a tactic in rifleman tree ( buff will apply to 40% range near turret ) instead of the hollow points tactic ) hollow point was an ability before used as a buff (not exactly the same but we can manage I think with this:
High-Explosive Ammo (Most likely not in client)
25 Action Points Instant cast 120s cooldown
You load your gun with a few rounds of special ammunition. For the next 12 seconds, your Gun Blast, Hip Shot, Snipe, and gun autoattacks will also deal an additional 103 damage to all enemies within 20 feet of your target.

This way rifleman tree still have the great range and rearrange other tree with silence and kb zone for exemple

For exemple : I found a video of beta showing this ability :
Shrapnel Grenade
Action Points: 60
Range: 0-65 ft
A grenade that you launch at the ground, scattering shrapnel 30 feet around the spot you select for 15 seconds. Any enemies who enter the area will take damage and become snared, reducing their runspeed by 60% while they remain within the area

https://youtu.be/qlP4VBMtwSg maybe we can also seach for which animation got the ability by watching youtube beta videos ?

I have an original war cd from a pre-order batch of the game we first recieved when I worked at a gamestop a long time ago. Would that have any early versions of the client that may be useful?
