Yes, another login/launch issue. [Solved]

I've read the stickies and read through many of the numerous login posts here. My problem is similar but has some differences.

When i run the launcher I type in my credentials and hit connect after it lights up. Both server icons are green. I then receive the login/status error window with a "copy to clipboard" button. Soon after the game launches, however. I can not create a character. I only have buttons to the Settings, Cinematic, Credit and Quit. On the far right is a black box where I think the create character button should be but nothing else. If I've missed a step or somehow overlooked an already solved problem please let me know.
