It wasn't a true instance, just a population cap to preserve performance. The Winds of Chaos would port you back to your warcamp if there wasn't room at the fort. There were no objectives, no timer, it was chaos and blobbing. But that's what RvR is all about I guess. The server seems happy enough with a 200v200 fight. Think primetime EU T4 zerg battles. I believe on live forts were instanced as well? Do you have any idea of the amount of players the server could handle in that one area or what the cap would be?
Also by alternative sets I mean the current implementation of say annihilator and it's counterpart mercenary set which you can obtain from scenarios.
