Pretty sure that wasn't why...
Just by glancing at the enemy kill counter to see who was farming who, I don't think siege weapons would be stopping the premade that had a slaughter fest on the pugs. =P

And yet the closest we got to breaking through was when I and one other person gave up RR to drop siege and pepper destro with it.
It isnt always about premades vs pugs. Premades kinda suck IMO but that is another thread

Re: NO RR?
Step 1: Join a group (hint: people often make warbands for defending keeps)
Step 2: Have someone in that group use abilities that cause aoe damage on enemy players (rain of fire is great for this, and it allows you to eat doritos while you play!)
Step 3: Use your siege to kill people in the same area your team member is doing damage
Step 4: Get renown
I havent played enough to notice, so if you still dont get renown for that, I would assume its a bug. Otherwise keeps are not intended to be solo player friendly, so I dont see any problem.

I play for the glory of ME and seeing purple numbers go by on my screen...drmordread wrote:I don't play for the glory of defending the realm, I play for the glory of ME and seeing purple numbers go by on my screen. (Yes I stop playing maxed out toons and go to an alt when I no longer make RR).
As for the few that camp the siege.... let them!
They sit around all day in one zone waiting for an attack, protecting their siege by staying mounted and keeping it in tow so that the timer does not kill it. Meanwhile you are out there fighting and making RR. At the end of the day, YOU out there fighting, make more RR than the guy sitting at the keep.
Cutting off RR to people that use siege is punishing people for helping to defend a keep.
So if I have a wb and take the Wb to defend the keep, and I get 6 of my people on Oil and Siege .... these 6 people will not make RR but everyone else will?
Where is the sense in this? Where is the logic? Where is the fairness? No RR for one quarter of my wb ..... because some jealous mimmi is complaining that people on siege make easy RR??? Get a LIFE! Stop complaining about someone making more RR than you!
WAR has always been a teamwork-centric game. The entire thing is centered around working together (in theory, unfortunately much less so in practice) in large groups to succeed. Renown is a great "carrot at the end of the stick," but if you're just playing so you can get a kick out of seeing purple numbers, you can go color an excel spreadsheet and scroll your way down to get the same effects. In a game centered around teamwork, mechanics that encourage an "I can get more purple numbers by AFKing at the keep with oil until resistance arrives" is inherently detrimental to the game. The devs made a brilliant choice in nerfing siege rewards.
At the end of the day, YOU out there fighting, make more RR than the guy sitting at the keep.
This is entirely the point. Good scraps that yield a lot of renown do - and very well should - require more effort than sitting at a keep and tapping your mouse to spill oil every so often. If you enjoy "seeing purple numbers" so much, go out there and earn them.

Again, the logic is to encourage teamplay and remove a glaringly overpowered opportunity for lots of renown with minimal (and I really stress the "minimal" part) effort. Earn your renown. The "fairness" component of your argument is the only one that I can remotely understand, as these individuals who are operating within a warband will indeed sacrifice their renown rewards for kills. However, I have - and will certainly continue to - purchase siege equipment for my realm and use them in sieges. Why? Because they make a huge difference in deciding the victorious realm, and with all the other opportunities for renown/gear that follow a victory, it's a small sacrifice to pay. If it's that big of a deal, rotate the individuals who operate the siege. But removing the stupid amounts of renown you can get from siege weapons (especially oil) stops encouraging the "screw my warband; I can get a whole half of a renown-rank by leaving the group and dumping oil" mentality. (And out of curiosity, why are you even concerned about your hypothetical warband? You've made it abundantly clear that you only "play for the glory of ME and seeing purple numbers go by on my screen")
It's fine if you want to play so you can see purple numbers on your screen, but getting to a high RR should be a symbol of effort, not one of "I'm good AFKing for lengths of time, followed by hitting my mouse1 button every 5 seconds."

Nope.... if you are on siege you get no renown, and it is not a bug.

Re: NO RR?
Excuse me, but I am really getting sick and tired of the "Join a guild" "Join a WB" "Join a premade" rhetoric. It's fine and dandy for people that dont know how to play, but some of us enjoy the thrill of doing it solo. There will always be solo players, punishing them for "Not playing YOUR STYLE of game", is not right, nor fair!PCD999 wrote: WAR has always been a teamwork-centric game. I DO NOT CARE that this game is built around the group, on my WH I like to play solo. I even play solo on my healers and make tons of RR. So what is next? No RR for healers who play solo?
What are people like you trying to do???? FORCE everyone to play the way you do? Really???? You are that self important and arrogant that no one will get a choice of how to play, except play your way?
Awwwww.... someone made RR without fighting...what a crying shame!!!!PCD999 wrote: This is entirely the point. Who cares? Why do you care? If someone wanted to afk and get RR...who cares? I never did! If someone makes a few thousand RR using siege for half an hour, who cares??? They helped defend a keep. They helped kill the enemy. They participated!
But you feel that because they were solo and you did not get a chance to leech off of them, that they should be punished? REALLY? And you insinuate that I am selfish? Please...look at yourself first!
Encourage teamplay.... I think I said enough on that above, but let me say something again.PCD999 wrote: Again, the logic is to encourage teamplay and remove a glaringly overpowered opportunity for lots of renown with minimal (and I really stress the "minimal" part) effort. Who are you to force people to play in a group? Really, I mean, why? If someone wants to solo they should be able to and be able to make as much RR as they should for their level. And spare me the self sanctimonious BS about this being a grp game. Most of the time the pug WB's dont even pay attention to the leader, and the rest of the time the leaders dont know what they are doing. I am not going to waste the two or three hours of game time I have being in a group that is getting farmed because they are too dumb to play together.
And that leads me to another point.
There are a lot of people who are casual, one or to hours a night players. Getting a chance to wield siege at a keep D or attack allows these people to keep up in renown. But nope.... not anymore .... so casual players who work all day will fall back in RR gain while people without a job living in mommas basement progress. Great thinking there! Really brilliant!!!!
And a third point;
MDPS.... completely useless at keeps, period! At least if they get on siege they can contribute.... but nope... not anymore! Why? Because self sanctimonious people got butthurt that someone made rr by pressing a mouse button 20 times a minute instead of 50 times a minute.
All your arguments come down to one thing; So and So player made more RR than I did and I am butthurt!

Re: NO RR?
And as I write this, I spent 5 gold on an oil, ran to the top of the outer door and waited 3 minutes for the right time. When Order commited, I used oil Killed no less than 9 tanks and MDPS (recieving no renown), then directed my warband to push out. We wiped the order warband, destroyed their two siege engines they had deployed, broke orders will to fight and locked CW, Praag, Reik, TM, and KV with little opposition.drmordread wrote: NO ONE IS USING SIEGE to help break the block... no one.
I didn't leave my warband and solo dump oil for 20% RR jump, I used oil so we could win.

Re: NO RR?
One more point
According to AZ the new RvR system they are building will rely on towed siege to break apart zergs and take keeps.
So ummmm ... who is going to give up making renown for this new system to work? I can guarantee you 99% of the players will not give up making RR to make the new system work.
So how is this system going to work .... if no one uses siege?
