Re: End Times
Basically it was the "rocks fall, everyone dies" option to reset the setting. Like the numerous apocalypse tier events in Marvel/DC comics for example. WHFB sales were low and they had to try something to reignite the IP. It kinda didn't work, divided the community and ruined quite a lot of things people liked, but it's not like GW cares or does market research.Kahvo wrote:Ok so let me understand. The End Times was GWS way of ending Warhammer fantasy so they can do the 40k stuff or did they just sh*t the bed with this? Age of Sigmar was some lame attempt dues ex machina the fix what they fuqed up?

Re: End Times
Basically they killed fantasy, all the lore, to make Age of Sigmarines, a tacky fantasy 40k hybrid. Which still suffers from a lot of the same problems fantasy did, and has as of yet had lackluster sales and uptake with hobbyists.
A lot of the hobby base has shunned AOS, and ignore it. Some still play fantasy with older rules, or new fan rule projects. Many have left for other games. A few old timers are waiting to see if GW does a 180 as they have in the past. It's still too soon to tell if fantasy won't rise again.
To be honest I stopped buying a lot of the miniatures when they switched to plastic, and the designs just went in directions I didn't really like. That and it went from being a few dollars for 1-2 metal figures, to 30-40 dollars for a few plastic ones. The price hike was insane from my perspective.

Re: End Times
I understand Middle Earth/Arda well enough, and I had a good handle on Forgotten realms until 4th/5th edition, and I was finally getting a decent grasp on the Old World, but then Age of Sigmar came along.

Re: End Times
There is 9th edition, which has quite reasonable rules. Guys are doing a splendid job.
Of course GW still owning IP, there won't be new special characters keeping same names. No Teclis or Settra
