I'm super jealous. I want the Face-Eater's Mask... That was my favorite on Live, back when the servers were dying and I settled to a trial account. That thing was the coolest thing to exist for trails.

Not sure why these items are in game when they are not obtainable by normal players?

Zabis got his mask for helping out testing stuff months ago. Some other masks are in the game due to former bugged loot tables.
Pretty much always afk or tabbed out.
