Guard damage and weapon skill

Does weapon skill have any bearing on your ability to parry guard damage? I wouldn't think so, and I didn't see it anywhere in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=879

WS increases Parry chance, so yes it should. However, since the parry via WS is overcome via STR, it might provide nothing as an end result. Renown abilities and items(I think) are not overcome via STR/int/BS/etc. I could be wrong on the items however.

Iirc your Guard damage gets calculated as it was from an attacker with 1str/1int/1balli . So increasing WS should be perfectly fine regarding guard damage. If the tradeoff for other parts is worth stacking it though is another question :D

The value derived from the Parry formula when applied to Guard depends on the tank's level. It's the default value on the paper doll.

Parry chance against guard damage = [7.5% x weapon skill / (50 + level x 7.5)] +/- percentage modifiers

For a level 40 tank, this would give

(7.5% x weapon skill / 350) +/- percentage modifiers,

which should be the default value on the paper doll.

which if i am not mistaken should be the same as vs an attacker of the same level and a stat of 1 anyways? In any case stacking WS as a tank is most likely not something you want to do in the first place. Especially not if you should max out RR with block/parry alone and slot Armor or Toughness on your gear.

It's equivalent to a toon that has the same level as your toon and a weapon skill of (50 + 7.5 x level), which equals 350 for a level 40 toon. All of the normal mobs' stats are calculated that way.
