Dueling Tournaments
Re: Dueling Tournaments
Is there anything you change though, seriously? I'm no chosen player myself, just curious :3

Re: Dueling Tournaments
Aside from tactics, not really. I haven't tried the Dps Spec with the KD but that would hurt my Ravage. I would imagine that it would be a tad weaker

Re: Dueling Tournaments
Dueling should be about how well you play with your class - regardless of spec.
In WoW WOTLK, dueling tourneys were arranged a lot and it was always decided by the class - not the spec. As a warlock I -had- to change the spec I used when fighting deathknights (affliction) from that which I used against boomkins/spriests (destro w/ felhunter) as affliction gave me a much better chance of winning a well-played deathknight.
In your example, a WL that would be fighting against a WE or Sorcerer would have a completely different build to the one he'd be using against a BG (former would be hunter/axe heavy and the latter more focused on guardian and parry).
it doesn't really affect me as a Magus as I will maintain the same spec 90% of the time, but I don't see why a player respecing to maximise their chances of winning is a bad thing/something to be discussed.
As long as the player performs well with their respective class, that is all that should matter imo.
In retrospect, however, this is only really vital when talking about rdps vs mdps vs tank vs everything dueling tournaments (though I still believe that making spec an issue is just creating unnecessary rules). Whatever you decide to do I will support, ultimately, as you are using your initiative and creating it
In regards to entrance fee: I would say 15g to enter (maybe even more to discourage people from going 'meh, fudge this' after one loss)? Winner takes all teh goldz!

Re: Dueling Tournaments
Yeah, i can agree to this. I'll allow respeccing then, and buy-in goes into the total winnable pot. i think 15-25g is a good range, larger the buy-in bigger the pot

This is how I feel precisely. I am aware that my WH is kind of rough for duels. But I have a lot of fun with it. Even when I lose, I judge how I did based on what I was up against. I'm not supposed to win every fight, especially when they are fully aware that I am literally seconds from popping on them. But I enjoy it, and it helps me tremendously in the rest of the game. It does however make me grown in SCs/ORvR when I get a good 1v1 on the side, then get rolled... But meh:P
I don't care about respeccing between fights. But everytime there are duels someone brings it up. So I guess it matters to some classes/people. And if that helps them enjoy their time dueling more, then good for them. So setting up some sort of basic system to point too could be a good idea.
15g would be good.
I'm not really looking forward to dueling order classes after a round or 2, or even round 1 depending on entrants. To be perfectly frank, I am more aware of destro animations and general attacks. Dueling an order I'll be scratching my head a bit. But that'll be interesting in it's own way.
Re: Dueling Tournaments
I think I obtained everything i need to know about the regulations and such for the dueling tournaments, at least for Melee and Ranged. I'm not entirely sure about Open

Re: Dueling Tournaments
By 'open' do you mean all classes go? DPS AMs/SH and WP/DOKs are not as godlike as they were in T3, and can be countered (though not hardcountered) by exceptional players of most classes from RR40/50+. So I'd say let them come (though this isn't to say that they aren't innherently more powerful dueling classes than any others)

Re: Dueling Tournaments
Yes i do mean all classes are allowed to participate in Open. RR40/50+ is not here btw, I'm not expecting much of a counter other than Mara/WL when it comes to WP/Dok

Re: Dueling Tournaments
Another issue, cross faction gold receiving and distributions. Can't trade gold to another faction :/ this might make an issue for winnable pot for both factions, i'm thinking about splitting the pot into Destro Winnable and Order Winnable but the 1st-60%/2nd-25%/3rd-15% will still apply.
Any suggestions or solutions to solve this major issue?

Well...
Depending how many people participate, maybe we just need a rich person to be our bank? That or the winner can arrange gold trades amongst members of the otherside via the Pot money. To avoid confusion, maybe as part of the sign-up sheet you ask for people whom would be able to trade gold between toons on the realms.
That is, unless you get 1,493 participants at 15 gold a pop.... At which case it's take the cash and exit stage left...
