All tanks have it but even an AoE snare has it's limits. But I do know some pairs are a bit one sided but during the playoffs i do plan on players dueling their own spec (2h BO/BG/Chosen vs 2h SM/IB/KoTB). But at the semis and finals it would have to be how well you are in your spec vs others.peterthepan3 wrote:
You make good points, though I will say that SNB tanks do have means of catching up to RDPS (some have aoe range snares, SM has pounce M2), and in t4 most will have access to heal regen gear/tactics and setups. Also certain MDPS do not fare well against defensive SNB tanks, so its not an issue that pertains solely to RDPS vs tank though I see where you're coming from. Perhaps three separate tournaments would be cool, and then an open, all-inclusive tournament.

Re: Dueling Tournaments
So does that mean people can't respec relative to the opponent they would be facing in the finals? Maybe I have misunderstood what you said =P

Re: Dueling Tournaments
Would that be bad? I feel like it isn't but that's mepeterthepan3 wrote:So does that mean people can't respec relative to the opponent they would be facing in the finals? Maybe I have misunderstood what you said =P

Re: Dueling Tournaments
personally i dont see a reason to limit people on their specs in the tourney at all: different matchups require different specs, etc. a spec used by a white lion against a marauder in the playoffs won't work against a defensive SNB BG, for example.

Re: Dueling Tournaments
My thoughts, would be to simply make it the easiest way possible. Don't put out the brackets.
That would mean, yea sure you can respec in between the opening round fights. Ofc, you don't know who or what you are going to compete against until your name is called, so it is entirely pointless.
As for Semi-s and finals, I see no reason not to respec. Now, you could simply give timers on when your name gets called to when fight starts, to limit the time people have to run to a flight master. But meh. I would hate to see the finals ending with someone bitching that they didn't have the right spec. Personally, I have 1 spec for dueling, and I switch tactics/gear depending on opponent, but not everyone or their class works out that way. Also, might explain why I get ate...

Re: Dueling Tournaments
That's what i do as well, keep the same spec and change tactics according to which opponent i'm against. I also like the idea of not making the brackets public but should i post during or after the tourney is done? And the timers on how long a player can respec is good but if both players respec its sorta betting your luck that your spec overmatches the other which i see pointless. During the finals and semis, maybe.

Re: Dueling Tournaments
respecing should not be an issue, as with every game dueling different classes requires different tactics/setups. what matters is how the player uses the CLASS, and to restrict people into staying in one spec is bad for dueling imo.

Re: Dueling Tournaments
As I said somewhere on another topic, dueling should be based on how well you use your most comfortable SPEC. I do feel that changing tactics to make yourself more to another side than of the other is enough. I've lost to WH with one tactic set but won against them with another tactic set without changing specs. And if both were allowed to continuously respec, an example you gave: A Def BG vs < spec > WL = Def BG wins, there are possibilities that if both respec, one might be regretting that he should've stayed in that spec. I'm just worried about people faking to go respec and end up the same spec whereas the other was convinced that his opponent was respecing so he'd might as well respec just in case. it is only a 2/3 elimination round.

Re: Dueling Tournaments
You don't even need to respec or change anything when you are dps-chosen, so none should.

xD As much as this flatters my ego with Dps Chosens, I'd have to disagree for now. I consider fairness above all.Scrilian wrote:You don't even need to respec or change anything when you are dps-chosen, so none should.
