[SH] Understanding the class

So i recently decided to get back into some Warhammer online, the only thing i really remember about it was i was playing a SH at the time, so decided to roll one again. I did some leveling and reached Nordland, I joined some of the PvP action going on and about 30 mins into playing i recognise that i was spontaneously combusting when i am in the middle or the back of the pack. After dying and running back into the fray the second i join the team i am spontaneously combusting again.

It is quite off putting being what feels like a massive "KILL ME" sign above me, but i am probably doing something wrong, should i be targeting BW's back? i'm not sure what i need to be doing and does this trend follow through to the higher levels?

Any help as to better understand my role distinctly is much appreciated.

Tier 1 is a clusterfuck of players, no1 cares, or use tactics.. just push each others to warcamps to farm... or they stand and look on each others with tanks melee in the back.. im new on this server as well.. and went " screw you guys, im goin home" and went dps instead of tank, because no1 assists you anyway... so if you are actuly playing your class and to make a diffrence, your a target to kill... because reasons.. you try to win !

Things you can do when focused by a bright wizard:
-- Detaunt them
-- Take cover/run out of range
-- If you are confident you can take them out first, do it

Later you will have more tools, including the ability to stack resistance and disrupt.

Your healers are probably still getting to grips with the ui and their spells, most of which they don't have yet, so you will have to be patient with them.

That's not entirely true that no one will assist you in tier1.
I rolled an ironbreaker and by always standing in front, guiding my pug-teammates into battle, I did receive serious support. But that's random.
Tier1 is where all the startesr will end up, where everyone can join minutes after they did start playing. So yes, you might end up with an awful mix of random ppl, just running around and mashing buttons.
But judging your class and the pvp here by looking at tier1 rvr alone is just plain wrong. Head into scenarios, get to tier2, watch out for higher-lvl player (not random lvl 4-8 ones, trying to compete with same-lvl gear and marching in, thinking they are the walking terminator).

As for SH, sorry no clue, can't help you with that. Just saying, tier1 is extremely random and to get infos about your class that way is extremely hard. Stick to your class if you're enjoying it, jump into scenarios, etc.

As a lowbie SH forget t1 spam aoe fest in Nordland. Queue for scenarios, get kill quests in Nordland warcamps and learn your class. Get the distance feeling, how to position to not be spoted by BW/SW. Before you get tactic with 50% longer distance your basic skills are only 65ft range, thats low compared to BW/SW 100 ft. Thats why play smart, use terrain, line of sight, hide in group of players.
Remember, most ppl tab target so try never stand on 1st line. T1 should go quick, real fun starts in t2 (ofc when they fix keeps).
Try always assist other burst dps classes like Sorc or Choppa. Use addon Swift Assist https://tools.idrinth.de/addons/swiftassist/. Learn to predetaunt and how to use Sticky Feetz.
And enjoy your class:)

Line of Sight is your friend, pop out shoot and hide. See bright wizards throwing their hands up in the air slowly, HIDE! it will break their cast. Also flags around BFOs in RvR and SCs break line of sight as well.

Download ActionBarColor if you haven't already. Every range career should get it.
It tints the whole button red if your target is out of range.
