people are going out of their way to misinterpret others' words, it seems. i reiterate: noone said guard isn't important; but that the tank has a much greater responsibility and duty than guarding alone.

uh the main thing a tank has to do is control the battle. as bretin said, you are responsible for pushing; you are responsible for the most important CC (ChCh, KB, KDs); you are responsible for challenging/guarding/damage reduction.
all are important, but most important is dictating the battle imo - so no, his comments weren't stupid. saying 'dumbest responses' is deeply offensive towards bretin and I am sure he is very hurt by that.

Ah ! Beat me to it by 1 minute... Furthermore, tank do not redirect damage : they negate it. Guard + shield = damage negated by 50%, or close. Taunt/challenge = damage negated by 30%.

And then the ''kill the healer first'' part... STOP SAYING THAT.

There is no target to kill first... PvP / RvR is a game of situational awareness. You try to find who to kill first based on what you see during the fight. You look for :

1- Overextended dps heros who go for the healers first;

2- Unguarded dps;

3- 2 hander squishy tank (not all 2h are that squishy...)

4- Bad healer caught out of position;

5- Players that you know from experience don'T use their defensive move ever/lost their detaunt reaching level 35... and use M1 damage instead of confusing movement...

6- players that have no immunity;

etc..

Make your pick and adjust accordingly if the situation change. It always changes. An unguarded dps may get a guard switch... You should switch your target to a better one and stop sticking to the idiotic idea to kill THIS or THAT first.

Really now... sick of these thread saying : KILL HEALERS FIRST.

I dare you... pick 5 people and try to kill Morfee first... The 15 minutes scen will run out and you won't even have dented his health bar...

sorry but that's incorrect. the main objective is to redirect damage. it is their undisputed #1 ability.

You are all wrong. The tank's ONLY job is to keep DPS off the squig herders (his secondary job is to keep dps off the squig herder's squigs).

Another frequently misunderstood fact: the healer's only job is to heal the squig herders.

In summary: don't eat me.

What is this guard you speak of? Is it a SnB ability?

I heard it helps to put it on WL pets but I play destro, any advice?
