Battlefield awareness: Keep your eyes on what is going on around you, pay attention to where you are and where you should be. Tanks need to be very wary of this. LOS blocking can get you killed. As can overextending.
Agreed, LOSing your heals is another self inflicted scenario issue.
Detaunt + Guard: this ties into battlefield awareness, knowing who to detaunt and when to detaunt will be helpful in winning. Often the healers will be too far away from the battle lines, and not using a detaunt on the right target will get you killed. Honestly the best thing a healer can learn to do is use their detaunt. Guard does not stack with Detaunt. so don't expect the tank to just guard you cause you can't be bothered to detaunt. Tanks should also use challange, this stacks with guard and detaunt and helps mitigate further damage. Doesn't blast it willy nilly, but don't forget to use it.
PVP tanking as it plays out in War is more extensive than in other games, thank you for adding this to the discussion.
Assist: It's not the tanks alone that need to use CC. RDPS have plenty of tools to assist each other, using KBs, KDs and other effects to keep the backline alive. Tanks be sure to float guard, and work with your MDPS. Don't put your guard on someone then run off, if you want to win, you need to focus fire and work together. Use the /assist macro or make one. You have 30seconds at the start of the match find a buddy and pair up.
Can you shift click a player to insert their name into the macro to make it more quickly?
Is there a good place to look up what your ranged KB, KD, Slow or whatever is?
I was given to understand Destro has none of these.
Stick together: Doesn't matter if you are king cheese of dairy island, sticking together is the best battle plan, if half your team is backing off, or running somewhere else, go with them. Goes with awareness...a WH getting some kills off stragglers might be good for him, but he isn't helping the group...and an over extending solo player will rarely make a worthwhile piece trade in this game atm.
I got nothing to add.
Be flexible: don't commit yourself to only one target, be opportunistic, go for whatever you have the best chance of killing, get the healers into a rez cycle, and push this advantage. Even premades have a hard time if you eliminate their carried pugs.
If there's no cannon-fodder, the premade will have to serve...
