sorry for YET ANOTHER thread on x-realm / faction-balance.
The following came to my mind as I read through another topic on the same issue and I am curious for your input.
First of all, personally I do tend to stick to the faction I choose for "religious" reasons... ^^ not smart I know but frankly I don`t care too much...
Still, I would not want to limit players from other factions, rather give them a reason to support theirs... or try another approach one:

I am almost sure this has been dicussed already but could someone explain why there is a Bonus for the outnumbered faction instead of a penalty to the dominateing one?
I know they have drastically different psychological effects on the players recieving them but aside from that?
The game is free to play by now so how about give it a try to change the bonus to a penatly for pop imbalance?
If you can win but only make e.g. 10% of the XP & RR every kill was worth with balanced population...?
This seems to me to be basically the same thing as politicians preferring to decrease taxes over direct governmental expenses to stimulate economy... mathematically the latter is usually more efficient but the first one is usually chosen because it generates votes...
So again in short:
1. Why do I get a bonus for being outnumbered? - I actually would not see any need to change it... seems to fit very well after all...
2. Why don`t we try to hand a penalty to the faction outnumbering the others? - You don`t force anyone to play a side he does not want to play and the attractivity of riding the zerg train should suffer quite a bit if you gain only a fraction of the regular rewards.
