Am I wrong to think like this?
Re: Am I wrong to think like this?
As long as the server is hosted in Europe EA can suck it. Games Workshop killed Warhammer Fantasy so i guess they dont care.

Re: Am I wrong to think like this?
Many years ago, during my initial exploration into the worlds of online gaming, (after the obligatory Runescape period
) I found a F2P game called Rubies of Eventide. I began playing it in 2006, while I was in highschool. The game was small, only 3 servers, a PvE, a Rp, and a PvP server, and the community was small. As the years went on, people left the lands of Vormis to explore and conquer other lands like Azeroth, or Norrath among many others. Around 2008, the community was small. there were less than 100 stable players spread across three servers, and it wasn't odd to do a /who and see that you were the only person online late at night. With this in mind, We few diehard players invested many hours into our characters and even money, as you could donate to help offset costs. The devs were great, and were often seen on the boards, and online as well. But as with all good things, it came to an end. The game was shut down in 2009 (we often times had GM run events, and I want to say there was a big "end of the world" party thing, but I'm not 100% sure.) This was due to some arguments between the devs, some players, and the people who owned the intellectual property, it was this whole big thing, and I feel like it could have been avoided. We were all crushed by the realization that our land of Vormis had been destroyed.
We reacted immediately, there were offers to purchase the game, and some of the devs even began developing another game, but it still hasn't been finished, nor have we heard or seen progress in several years. (Still holding onto the hope though
) Over time, we tried to replace RoE with guilds on WoW, LOTRO, Guild Wars, Everquest, Rift, and other games. Even so, nothing was the same. The forums eventually died out, and went offline, and our Facebook group is all but completely silent.
If RoE were to come back, for an indeterminate amount of time, even a week, I'd jump all over it. The opportunity to play some thing I loved with people I enjoyed would be worth the time spent, it would even be worth the feeling of loss that would accompany its second death, just to play it again, just to relive it again, just to create more memories, because in the end, that's all we have. When I saw that Warhammer was back, I was all over it. I enjoyed the game, and I enjoy this community. I see nothing wrong with spending time with some great folks killing, and being killed by other great folks. Ultimately neither I, nor anyone else on here knows the future of this server. As Genisaurus said, there's an army of uncaring lawyers waiting to strike it down. On top of that, life happens, people's priorities change, and stuff breaks. But even knowing that this server, along with all the time I've invested (which isn't much compared to some people) in it could be shut down tomorrow, I still think that it is worth it to play this game. I enjoy it, and later on, I will enjoy the memories that it brought me.
This leaves you with a question. It's one that we have all answered already. Are you willing to risk your time and feelings to have a great time with great people, and create lasting memories?
