I dont know the first thing about the lore of this game, but common sense and aesthetics coincide in saying that there are two disgustingly anachronic and downright ugly mounts in the game. Copters in a late middle ages setting! And dinosaurs! That futuristic an retrofuturistic stuff is so annoying and out of place that it makes me and a lot of players Ive talked to sick. Please consider changing them to anything that fits in this late medieval fantasy world, if it is technically possible.

The Coptors are a little bit out of place, but the Cold Ones are classic Dark Elf, however they should be a special mount, not the staple. They are indeed ridden by many heroes of the dark elf army, but they aren't just handed out to anyone.

There isn't one overall aesthetic but aesthetic separated by faction. Dark Elves are basically everything from an 80s Heavy metal album cover, from the hair, to the skimpy outfits, to the dinosaurs, to the purple lightning. Where the empire is Renaissance Gothic age of enlightment, with DaVinci technological wonders, like steamtanks and mechanical horses to pidgeon bombs. Dwarfs take the empire's technological design and goes in one direction, while Skaven go in a different.

I am all for adding more cosmetic mounts into the game!

@ Scrilian: I would seriously avoid scans of entire books on here. You can put a couple of small snippets of particularly interesting lore, but the GW Law division is allegedly hungry to hand out C&D letters to anyone who breaks Copyright Infringement, there is a wealth of information on the Wikis though:

RoR falls under: TheAge of the World that Was

ignore Age of Sigmar stuff.

Well dwarfs had gyrocopters in the original game and people actually fielded them.

Other animal mounts were out of the question in warhammer table top for play balance reasons. If dwarves had mounts to get the charge in regularly they'd be tooooooooo OP (dear lord here comes a dwarf general on a Pegasus that can break a greater demon over his knee).

So lore wise I am happy with the roflcopter.
In the dwarf language there are over 500 words for the concept of revenge, and only one for the concept of forgiveness.

It's kinda unfair how roflcopter's noise announces your arrival to everyone. Dwarfs should have an alternative mount to choose from. Even if it would be not lore friendly 50% speed horse.

Noise, size and animation are for sure against Dwarfs. Not speaking about how shameful Dwarfs look while using it.

Noise shmoise,

The enemy should know a dwarf hero is coming so they make peace with their gods.

I like the idea of "backpack" mount which just makes a dwarf to "march" faster, without mounting anything. Should be relatively easy to implement as well.

Used to do this on my Choppa back when the mounts weren't race restricted; eventually they were made race restricted since people accused others of speedhacking, running at 50% runspeed without a visible mount :P
