So I played this a few years ago and enjoyed it (also played back when the original game came out). Got to conqueror gear but eventually moved on, and don't remember much of the commands and mechanics.
Anyway, I installed the game after seeing a new update video on youtube, made a lvl 1 black orc, got into the first SC, asked how to ride the horse because I forgot, to which someone helped with. However, a few mins later someone was complaining we lost the game and its gg because the tank (I was the only tank) wasn't guarding, which was only a few minutes into the game. I then checked my abilities and saw some weird skill that was a guard I guess, equipped it, and guarded the complaining Zealot. I said I was new and didn't know you get the guard ability at lvl 1, he kept complaining, so I said if this is the community in the game I'm just going to uninstall, to which he said please do. He kept going on, saying I was lying because if I'm in a sc at lvl 1 then I'm not new, so I should have said returning player instead I guess. Also note that no one else in the SC said anything, even the person who told me how to ride the horse, which was another signal that this was likely not rare situation.
I've been a gamer my whole life, but getting flamed 2 mins into a game, at level 1, after showing I'm new by asking how to ride the horse, is a new level of toxic community that I've never seen before. I expect toxicity in competitive games like Counter Strike, but not this game.
I normally give things a second chance, and know one interaction doesn’t reflect a whole community, but seeing as it happened so quickly it was more of a canary in coal mine type situation for me. On the plus side, it happening so quick did save me a lot of time, saving me from getting invested before finding out the community is very unfriendly, at least to new people.
I know this post is probably not helpful to anyone, seeing as there is nothing that can be done about these kinds of things, as a community and culture around a game are what they are. But it's still a new/returning player experience, that made me uninstall right away, and likely to never return, because a game can always be updated with new and cool things, but if the community is bad then I'm not staying.
Anyway rant over, and sorry if you read all this.

Find yourself group of friendly players, there is plenty of them around.

Honestly instead of complaining about you he should have told how to guard and tell u what to do as a tank.
Any1 flaming another player without helping them is in my eyes a troll.
If i was you i would give this game another chance, dont let yourself down because of 1 negative players.
Theres alot of people on ror helping others.
theres a channel called advice you can ask questions there by typing /advice (your question here)
Also if u want to you can check out guides you can find them on the ror forum, youtube and several guild discords for a guide for different classes regarding your build, rr build, mechanics and rotations.
Again dont let yourself get down because of 1 flamer

Sounds like an extremely unlucky first SC. I have been on the server for a decade and I don't think I can think of even 20 of these types of events in that timeframe. Most of the community is friendly and welcoming to new players and the trolls usually get drowned out. If you are still willing to give the game a chance I would recommend asking to join one of the guilds that explicitly state they are new player friendly as they are going to be the ones who will sit down and walk you through exactly how the game works.
